Facts, Facets, Fancies, and Fairy Tales. Because life is filled with realities, angles, ideas, and even happily ever afters. Monday, April 15, 2013. In the quietness that has defined my life since our move out west, I've found inspiration and enjoyment in hours of creativity through quilting. In the last 3 1/2 months I've made three quilts. I've told my sister that I think just about anyone could do the type of quilting I do. Just cut squares and sew them together. It's not too difficult, though ...Thank...

Facts, Facets, Fancies, and Fairy Tales. Because life is filled with realities, angles, ideas, and even happily ever afters. Wednesday, July 31, 2013. Thoughts on writing and prayer from Madeleine L'Engle's wonderful book, Walking on Water: Reflections. On Faith and Art. So we must daily keep things wound; that is, we must pray when prayers seem dry as dust; we must write when we are physically tired, when our hearts are heavy, when our bodies are in pain. Facts, Facets, Fancies, and Fairy Tales. Because life is filled with realities, angles, ideas, and even happily ever afters. Saturday, July 27, 2013. Jeremy's birthday fell on a Wednesday this year. I left for work at 7:20 in the morning and Jeremy didn't get home from his work until 9:30 in the evening, so needless to say, we didn't celebrate that day. Although, I did make him some jam-swirled donuts (gluten-free, vegan, and tasty! As a little breakfast surprise. Happy birthday, Jeremy! Your mission is ...

Facts, Facets, Fancies, and Fairy Tales. Because life is filled with realities, angles, ideas, and even happily ever afters. Thursday, February 2, 2012. Two weeks gone. Not a day goes by that I don't think about Grandma. There is a photo of her propped up near where I keep my car keys and my phone. The sparkle in her eyes and the smile about her lips are a reminder of all she was, but they also remind me that there are no more conversations. That warmth and love I will always remember. Oh, but I miss her!

the world through a frame

Saturday, January 29, 2011. Oh, hello there 2011. I almost didn't see you there. Is it appropriate to be wishing a happy new year exactly 29 days in? Well I've never been big on being conventional anyway so. happy new year! No resolutions for me as I find them to be pretty obnoxious. Not sure why the start of a new year is so popular with wiping the slate clean. People should realize that can happen on any day of the year. Think about it. Thursday, June 24, 2010. To take that job in a different city? To leave your broken marriage? To take that one-year sabbatical? To quit that job you hate? The best way to find out what we really need is to get rid of what we don't. I help them give themselves permission to make choices that empower and free them, because I believe that when you free yourself, you free everyone else too. Saturday, July 25, 2015. Sauvie Africa, 9"x12" oil. Sauvie Africa Reflections, 9"x12" oil. There is a place on Sauvie Island down a gravel road and through a cattle gate called "Africa" because it seems so remote and wild. Instead of wildebeests, cattle graze and gather under shady trees. The weather was cool and cloudy, a welcome relief from recent heat. Light stayed constant throughout the day, easier for plein air painting. I painted two studies, both on 9" x 12" canvas panels. We also decided that we did not need the stop motion section in the final.I thought it was much more sinister in terms of “we don’t know what happens next” sort of flow. I think it works better because during the critique, nobody bought up what happened next, people can assume their own endings which is a good thing in my opinion as we have left it open for own judgement. Editing is now completed and all we need to do is burn it on to disc! April 27, 2010 in 311MC.

A master in the art of living. Draws no sharp distinction. Between work and play,. Nor labor and leisure,. Nor mind and body,. Nor education and recreation. She hardly knows which is which. She simply pursues her vision of excellence through doing. Whatever she is doing and leaves others to determine whether she is working or playing. To herself, she always appears to be doing both.
