Day in the Life. Christmas Break Trip to the Bay Area. Saturday, January 11, 2014. I've been making this granola for several years now. It's a modified version of Megan's Granola. On AllRecipes.com. Once Jennifer entered our family, I started making it gluten free instead so I can share it with her. This recipe is a great way for us to use up the dark honey we harvest each September. It's a little intense in flavor kind of like a mild molasses. This granola is soooooooooo yummy! 8 cups rolled oats. The s...

Day in the Life. Flu and the October-December Picture Roundup. Friday, January 23, 2015. Flu and the October-December Picture Roundup. Eddie was fine- totally asymptomatic- so each morning I'd drag myself out of bed to get him up and ready for school. And then yesterday we kept him home when he came down with a fever and cough. Poor kid is on day #2 and seems pretty uncomfortable, even with medication. Dave reminded me that our second day was the worst, too. It but I can appreciate it now. For Thanksgivi...

Day in the Life. The Slowest Way to Move. Picnic Day Weekend 2013. April Rose Photo 2013. Eddies Thoughts at 3.5 Years Old. Monday, April 29, 2013. The Slowest Way to Move. You know those folks who pay movers to not only move their stuff to a new location, but also to pack. I can't imagine the cost associated with something like that, but sometimes I sure wish we were going that route. But of course we're not. I'm still dreading the garage though- not only do we have a lot. Office now. The futon belo...

Day in the Life. When Hes a Mama. Noodles Giant Blue Egg. A Boy and His Chickens. Cousin Sleepover and Illness. Wednesday, March 20, 2013. So, following daycare rules, I had to keep him home until he was fever free for 24 hours. Edward still came up to hang out with us anyway, since it was clear that Eddie wasn't that. Sick And I'm glad he did because otherwise it would have just been any ol' sick day at home with Eddie. As it turned out, Eddie was symptom free all day Tuesday. We didn't actually do.

The Bower Family Happenings: November 2013
http://bowerfamilyhappenings.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Day in the Life. Tuesday, November 5, 2013. Guess what Eddie was for Halloween? If you're not sure, think about these facts:. He thinks he's really strong and tough. He debated on his costume for a couple of weeks.until we got to the store last month and he spied the double sword/double sai ninja weapon pack on the shelf. HE NEEDED TO HAVE THESE WEAPONS IN HIS POSSESSION. So he promptly decided to be a ninja. Have you ever seen such a cute ninja? Next to a new stove in a box! There was a parade and a par...

Day in the Life. Eddie at 3.5. Tuesday, February 26, 2013. Oh my goodness, we've been busy. But happily busy so it's okay. I have a whiteboard in my home office that I update every few days with my tasks. The top is my dissertation chapter list, the bottom left is today's list (yeah right am I getting all that done! And the bottom right is the two-month-plan list. Bye bye sheetrock and tub. Since I'm not adding anymore stuff to our compost pile, I've started feeding all our kitchen scraps exclusively to ...

The Bower Family Happenings: October 2013
http://bowerfamilyhappenings.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Day in the Life. Thursday, October 17, 2013. Goodness.I haven't posted anything in quite sometime. I used to blog at my school desk on campus during slow-brain moments when I needed to let my subconscious work out some complex data-related thing. And these days I don't sit at a school desk often enough for that to even happen. So on the rare occasions when I DO sit down to work I actually WORK. How novel. We are still running now that the race is over so we can do other races, too. Taking care of my in-l...

The Bower Family Happenings: May 2014
http://bowerfamilyhappenings.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Day in the Life. Wednesday, May 21, 2014. I wrote this last week and forgot to post it.the story of my life. Goodness, have I ever gone a whole month without posting anything? Probably. I looked at the archives on the blog recently (looking for a recipe I know I posted in a partiuclar month) and it was interesting to see how many posts I created for every year. It has gone down, down, down steadily. We are exhausted with THIS ONE! Four-five year old boys are definitely a good form of birth control.

Day in the Life. The Bowers Still Exist. Thursday, October 9, 2014. The Bowers Still Exist. Long time no blog, eh? Well, we're still alive. We're just busy. I promise I'll hop back on here after I file my dissertation. In the meantime, here's a very quick look into my life at the moment. I'm currently house/garden/18-year-old-cat sitting for my dad while he and my brother are up in Gualala helping Dave work on the house. This is my dissertation station on the kitchen table. See you in December!

Day in the Life. Tuesday, May 21, 2013. Some of his noteworthy phases of the past included:. Pulling things out of the dishwasher at about 10 months old. I dealt with this by not opening the dishwasher during his waking hours. Insisting on having several spoons to eat with during all meals, even meals that didn't require any. Utensils during his third year. I dealt with this by letting him have the damn spoons because it was easiest. Sleeping with zillions of book on his bed from about 2.5 years unti...
