Life as the Ahl-Tyvand family. Well from the perspective of the Ahl side as none of the Tyvands will add to the blog at this time. Thursday, November 13, 2008. And only one parents will hear. Monday, November 10, 2008. Back in October Adrian and I got sometime away from our son George and headed east to the town of Leavenworth for Oktoberfest. Adrian will tell you that entertainment was provided by endless. We got lucky with good weather, so our 10 minute walks to the beer tent weren't too bad. After lun...

Samoa to Seattle: January 2009
http://tikidonkey.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Keeping tabs on the South Pacific from the Pacific Northwest. Tuesday, January 27, 2009. 9 days left in Samoa. I'm enjoying my time that remains here in the tropics. It was cool today. It is 630p right now and it is only 84 degrees. Plus the humidity seems lower than it has been. On Friday, Team Puppy backpacked down to Massacre Bay for some camping. On the way up, it was NOT cool out. I'm guessing it was about 92 and 100% humidity. And that trail is steep. I was a super sweat machine. Today the Huskies ...

Samoa to Seattle: July 2008
http://tikidonkey.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
Keeping tabs on the South Pacific from the Pacific Northwest. Thursday, July 31, 2008. Pacific Arts Festival 2. I'm a little worn out. It was great that we actually had things to do on a nightly basis. But, it is just a week and a half of events, so most people felt like we better see as much as we can while it is here, so you end up staying out late (by American Samoa standards) every night. So, did the miracle weather and overall lack of problems despite the overall lack of planning continue? Anyway, I...

http://tikidonkey.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Keeping tabs on the South Pacific from the Pacific Northwest. Wednesday, November 5, 2008. Whoa, finally an update. I've been back in Samoa for over a week now, but I did have a nice couple week break in the real world. First though, WOOOOHOOOOOOO! I'm really happy about that. Finally; finally a president who is interested in trying to do the right thing and won't embarrass the country on a regular basis. Thanks for the picture Liz. First I had a layover for 10 hours in Honolulu and my friend Risa who us...

Keeping tabs on the South Pacific from the Pacific Northwest. Thursday, May 29, 2008. We had a ton of good times in my Lions Park house. I think it was a really great place to live, especially just getting to the island and not knowing anyone. But, there were always problems with the house and they just kept getting worse and worse. Well why didn't you just have the housing department fix those things you might be asking? I have no answer. Here are some other things I won't miss about my house:. There is...

Samoa to Seattle: तो Cuzco and Mancora
http://tikidonkey.blogspot.com/2010/04/cuzco-and-mancora.html
Keeping tabs on the South Pacific from the Pacific Northwest. Tuesday, April 20, 2010. तो Cuzco and Mancora. Our bus made a few stops on the 7 hour drive from Puno to Cuzco. One was at the little town of Pukara. There are some of the oldest pre-Inca ruins around there. Also, all over Peru, people put Pukara bulls on their roof for good luck. We stopped by a glacier. Stopped to check out some llamas. And at what they told us were the oldest Inca ruins. There was this wall of a big temple/meeting hall:.
