Why the New York Times should use the 100-point system for wine | STEVE HEIMOFF| WINE BLOG

http://www.steveheimoff.com/index.php/2011/10/05/why-the-new-york-times-should-use-the-100-point-system-for-wine

I ask myself 5 questions, then answer them. Why the New York Times should use the 100-point system for wine. On Oct 5, 2011 in 100 Point system. The reason why Eric Asimov. Last week in the. Is so interesting is because it provides the perfect defense of a point scoring system–although that was inadvertant on Eric’s part, and he’d probably deny it even after reading this post. Eric wrote about a tasting of New Zealand Pinot Noirs he found. A lack of definition [and] a sense of muddiness. But common wines...

STEVE HEIMOFF| WINE BLOG | A blog about the world of wine

http://www.steveheimoff.com/index.php

On Aug 22, 2016 in Politics. Last Friday, I told Rick Tigner, the CEO of Jackson Family Wines and a man for whom I have the utmost admiration, that I was quitting the job I’d held since March, 2014. Because I turned 70 years old in June, and I’m feeling my age. Alas, that private investment turned out to be run by Bernie Madoff. On Dec. 10, 2008, I along with thousands of others got the bad news: My life savings were gone. Along with the money went hopes of an early retirement. The days of our years.

Has social media ever sold anything, besides itself? | STEVE HEIMOFF| WINE BLOG

http://www.steveheimoff.com/index.php/2009/08/31/has-social-media-ever-sold-anything

Label terminology: when seeing isn’t believing. A conversation with Randall Grahm about social media. Has social media ever sold anything, besides itself? On Aug 31, 2009 in Social Media. Was at the Napa Valley ranch of a friend’s parents, for their annual celebration of all things Portuguese (the sopa was. I wondered Where do you go from here or, put another way, is there another rabbit to pull out of that hat? Call me a revanchist if you want. It’s a common charge against someone who dares to quest...

Marketing wine is not for the faint-hearted, or stupid | STEVE HEIMOFF| WINE BLOG

http://www.steveheimoff.com/index.php/2011/09/28/marketing-wine-is-not-for-the-faint-hearted-or-stupid/comment-page-1

Finding the perfect context for wine appreciation. There they go again. Marketing wine is not for the faint-hearted, or stupid. On Sep 28, 2011 in Marketing. As a guy with more than a little interest in the marketing side of the wine biz, I’ve always been fascinated by how an unknown winery becomes famous–how a famous winery stays famous–and how, and whether, a winery that’s lost its glitter can regain it. Which brings us to the final challenge: How can a winery that’s lost its glitter ever regain it?

An example of how social marketing works for a winery–maybe | STEVE HEIMOFF| WINE BLOG

http://www.steveheimoff.com/index.php/2011/10/13/an-example-of-how-social-marketing-works-for-a-winery-maybe

PR still vital after all these years. Is luxe Cabernet back? The prices say it is. An example of how social marketing works for a winery–maybe. On Oct 13, 2011 in Marketing. I’ve been something of a debunker about social marketing advice companies that claim they can help wineries increase sales through the use of social media. Whenever I see such claims, I usually think that the only sales that are going to be increasing are those of the social marketing advice company! An unemployed lawyer ). If the la...

Vinens Vilde Vesten: juni 2012

http://vinensvildevesten.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html

I lille, fjerne Danmark. Posted by Nanna Wang Carlsen. Onsdag, juni 27, 2012. Links to this post. Det er det fineste ko...

Vinens Vilde Vesten: februar 2013

Farvel til the kid from the sticks.

Vinens Vilde Vesten: juli 2012

http://vinensvildevesten.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html

Lørdag den 7. juli 2012. Spredte stjernestunder på Formel B. Selskabet var for godt. Snakken gik lidt for livligt. H J Hansen Vin.
