Recipe for Success

Sunday, May 07, 2006. Mango and Banana Smoothie. A quick and tasty breakfast drink. It's extremely healthy as it only contains fruit and it's full of all the vitamins and nutrients you need - an easy way to five-a-day. Serves 2. Obviously you can make smoothies with practically any fruit, but mango, papaya and banana with a squeeze of lime is a very tasty combination! One large ripe mango. One large ripe banana. Roughly chop the banana and add to the mango. Blend until smooth. Posted by Steve at 10:21 am.

Recipe for Success: Leek and Sweet Potato Soup

http://stevesfood.blogspot.com/2005/01/leek-and-sweet-potato-soup.html

Tuesday, January 11, 2005. Leek and Sweet Potato Soup. Is a variation on the traditional Leek and Potato soup. It's especially good with the kick from the chilli (you can replace the fresh chilli with chilli flakes) - it's not hot, it's just a little extra taste so don't leave it out. A delicious, thick and tasty soup for winter. 1 tbsp olive oil. 1 large onion, finely chopped. 2 garlic cloves, crushed. 3 large leeks, sliced into rounds. 2 heaped tsp ground cumin. 1 litre vegetable stock. Wild Mushroom a...

Recipe for Success: Chilli Coconut Chicken

http://stevesfood.blogspot.com/2005/02/chilli-coconut-chicken.html

Wednesday, February 16, 2005. This Thai-inspired dish is quick, simple and tasty. Serve it with Thai Jasmine rice for lunch or supper and make it as firey as you can stand! 2-3 cloves garlic, finely chopped. 1 inch piece root ginger, finely chopped. 1 can coconut milk (low fat can be used). Dessicated coconut, toasted. Heat vegetable oil in a pan and add the garlic, ginger, chilli flakes and powder and lemon grass. Fry for a couple of minutes then add the chicken breasts and sear on all sides.

Recipe for Success: Special Egg and Bacon Brunch

http://stevesfood.blogspot.com/2005/01/special-egg-and-bacon-brunch.html

Monday, January 17, 2005. Special Egg and Bacon Brunch. A tasty and (slightly) healthier alternative to a cooked breakfast - only the bacon is fried. For an even lower fat version, try the Mediterranean Ham and Eggs. Variation below. This basic idea is infinitely variable and is great for a more substantial breakfast or a light lunch or supper. 1 English muffin or 1 bagel. 2 cheese slices (Jarlsberg is especially good, or try Emmental). Lardons (chopped pieces of bacon). Pre-heat the grill on high. Templ...

Recipe for Success: One-pot fish with tomatoes and olives

http://stevesfood.blogspot.com/2005/02/one-pot-fish-with-tomatoes-and-olives.html

Friday, February 25, 2005. One-pot fish with tomatoes and olives. This is a wonderfully simple and healthy dish for a low-fat supper - you can cook it for five minutes then leave just leave it in the oven while you get on with something else. The flavours are also infinitely variable - add whatever you like to make it more substantial (see below) or keep it simpe and serve with rice or couscous. 1 large onion, roughly chopped. 400g can chopped tomatoes. 6 oz black olives. 4 boneless white fish fillets.

Recipe for Success: Simple Scallops

http://stevesfood.blogspot.com/2005/02/simple-scallops.html

Saturday, February 26, 2005. Simple, quick and tasty - it only takes about 5 minutes. Scallops may seem a little posh, but this far from the sea there are few alternatives to cod available - bizarrely this seems to be one of them. They are, however, fantastically easy to cook, so treat yourself. Root ginger, finely chopped. Lemongrass, finely chopped (optional). Coriander, finely chopped. Heat the butter in a frying pan with a little oil (this stops the butter burning). Posted by Steve at 11:25 pm.

http://stevejwblog.blogspot.com/2005/09/new-uni-new-course-new-blog.html

Steve's Blog of the Bizarre. Thursday, September 22, 2005. New uni, new course, new blog. I've finally arrived at the University of Manchester. To start my MA in Translation Studies. I've started a new blog. In the hopes that I might put useful things I want to remember there before I forget them. Although at the moment I can't remember the things I need to buy from one minute to the next, so there's probably very little hope for me. Posted by Steve at 8:57 am. View my complete profile.

http://stevejwblog.blogspot.com/2005/10/grr-lost-my-post-greek-lessons.html

Steve's Blog of the Bizarre. Tuesday, October 04, 2005. Grr Lost my post - Greek lessons! Blogger went on maintenaince while I was writing a post a couple of days ago (which I stupidly didn't copy first, blah blah) so this is vaguely what I was writing about:. My flat is made up of 2 Greeks, 1 Spaniard and 2 English (including myself). We went on a flat expedition last week to Mykonos Café - a Greek café near the uni - to watch the football: Panathinaikos. Steve's Blog of the Bizarre. Friday, May 13, 2005. I've found something bizarre, but could be useful: an instant blog post generator. Well, I've not posted for 2 months, so this could let me post quickly then get back to my Wikipedia. So here's my contribution for today:. I honestly adore my grandpa Archibald. Often he is a little cool, and then last week he just disgusted me. I needed his help thinking about standards of beauty of the European lowlands, but then he started bitching:. Link of the day:.

Steve's Blog of the Bizarre: Worrying trend - UK to lock up people deemed potential threat

http://stevejwblog.blogspot.com/2005/03/worrying-trend-uk-to-lock-up-people.html

Steve's Blog of the Bizarre. Wednesday, March 23, 2005. Worrying trend - UK to lock up people deemed potential threat. In response, it appears, to the shooting dead by the police of a man brandishing a sword. On the A63 near Hull and the conviction and indefinite detention. Under the Mental Health Act of a schizophrenic who helped beat a man to death, there has been a call to reform mental health plan. Steve's Blog of the Bizarre. Monday, March 14, 2005. The end of the world is nigh! I've been watching "Supervolcano", a big-budget docu-drama thing from the BBC. This presents the scenario of the Yellowstone. Becoming active with multiple eruptions. As the crust weakens, spewing out huge amounts of ash, pyroclastic flows. Steve's Food Rules! - Home

Welcome to Steve's Food Rules.Com! I have always been a fussy eater but it wasn't until I worked for a major law firm in Los Angeles that I realized I had a set of nutty rules that governed what I would eat. I recall the afternoon years ago when everyone in the office was ordering Chinese food for lunch except me. I just thought it was wrong to eat Asian food "while the sun was out." The Food Rules were born. Just like any masterpiece of art or literature, this is a work in progress. Steven February, 2012.
