Hunting Season Thesis

My thoughts and experiences on hunting and related subjects. Tuesday, September 23, 2008. This season has been a test. Analytical, physical, and emotional. When we found the elk had been bumped, we were demoted and clueless. I had to figure where elk would be without the benefit of weeks of scouting. It was physically demanding to get to my perch. How many times will you slip and fall, how much skin can you lose on your shins, and how many saplings in the face? How long will you sit still for the chance?

Hunting Season Thesis: August 2008

http://www.steveshuntingseason.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html

My thoughts and experiences on hunting and related subjects. Tuesday, August 26, 2008. A Measure of Success. I found some elk. During my last weekend of fruitless searching, I happened to come across a few elk tracks crossing the trail I was riding on. As I looked out over the valley I thought I heard the faintest hint of a bull squeal on the wind. Then and there I knew I wasn't going to leave that mountain side until I found every deer and elk in the area. Again, right around 5:30 pm, and shadows covere...

Hunting Season Thesis: Archery

http://www.steveshuntingseason.blogspot.com/2008/09/archery.html

My thoughts and experiences on hunting and related subjects. Thursday, September 11, 2008. Here's a brief,ha ha, venture into archery equipment and uses. Below are two different styles of bow, the top is a recurve. If you'll notice the angle of the limbs, the compound is more horizontal. As opposed to the more vertical recurve. This has made the bow remain more stable and moves less in your hand when shot. If you imagine the limbs on the recurve. Position to change from shot to shot as muscles tire out.

Hunting Season Thesis: The Hunt is On

http://www.steveshuntingseason.blogspot.com/2008/09/hunt-is-on.html

My thoughts and experiences on hunting and related subjects. Saturday, September 6, 2008. The Hunt is On. Sorry few pictures, mostly the story. I arranged work so that I could go up on Wednesday night and Kenny met me up there 0400. We decided to scope early and then come up with a game plan. It wouldn't make sense to go after a memory. We packed and got our gear. I had a couple MRE. Across from the mouth of the draw. They were all there. Things were lining up again. Hoped for a six point bull to be bedd...

Hunting Season Thesis: Hunt Starts

http://www.steveshuntingseason.blogspot.com/2008/08/hunt-starts.html

My thoughts and experiences on hunting and related subjects. Thursday, August 14, 2008. Tomorrow, Friday, at 0400, we'll head to the field and see what we can find. It's exciting but I always wonder if I am prepared for any contingencies. Last year on our Timpa. Both summits, one day) hike, an old injury came back to my left knee just before crossing the scree field on the way up Timp. Peak) I didn't mind it a lot. I better get to bed, we'll see what this weekend holds. I love that first pic! David and K...

Sunday, November 4, 2007. Fergus (ne Riddock and sometimes Roger). I know, I know, I know. To have another wife. But you see, it has worked out so well. With the wife thing that I thought, well, I can handle a dog too! She could even help. In discussing, well, telling Ann she said, " You what? http://panourgos.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html

Sunday, September 9, 2007. Sore Wrists and Tired Glutes. For those who occasionally check this blog, my apologies if this post is a strenuous shock. I suppose I do not spend the time I should at the keyboard, but there seem to be lots of tasks in the yard and around the house fine tuning the recent addition, not to mention luncheon dates, 4Wheeler rides and other motorcycle trips to contend with. From Osoyoos we rode west on Highway 3 towards Van. Crossing the Rockies and dropping down into Vancouver was...

http://panourgos.blogspot.com/2007_06_01_archive.html

Monday, June 18, 2007. We first got the patio back after the construction mess. Steve and Trevor, David's nephew, along with Ann, worked like ants to move the dirt, replace with landscape fabric and gravel and set in the new pavers. The weather has been lovely for porch "settin'," in the low to mid 80's. ALL BUT DICKIE, WHO SNAPPED THE PIC. THE TWO LITTLE "Newbies" AND PARENTS. GRAMPS DOUG WITH LITTLE HOLDIE. panourgos: We Love the New Addition

http://panourgos.blogspot.com/2008/05/we-love-new-addition.html

Wednesday, May 28, 2008. We Love the New Addition. The house is working out so nicely for family gatherings and our everyday cooking, entertaining and living. Our family "Sunday Dinners" and holiday gatherings are wonderful. It is so nice to have room for us all. The little 9'x12' kitchen was a bit cramped. The large windows give a feeling of being outdoors in the trees and garden. We love the space we now have for all of us to sit and visit while others may be at the sink or counter. Tynan The Dark One.

Be astonished, be astounded. Wednesday, September 10, 2014. From God’s Word to God’s World. A few weeks ago, my wife and I made it to the Allentown Art Museum just before the closing of the exhibit “Of Heaven and Earth,” featuring Italian works from the 15. Completed in 1799, is a series of prints with short captions, poking at well-established institutions such as government, church, and cultural mor é.
