The Stewpot: Sloe Gin

http://stewpot-brum.blogspot.com/2012/10/sloe-gin.html

Showcasing the best food and drink Birmingham has to offer. Tuesday, 9 October 2012. Usually on this blog I'm all for sharing local knowledge, but when it comes to revealing the best sites for sloes you'll find me less than forthcoming I'm afraid! This year I've managed to scrounge up enough for a batch of gin, but if you're planning on making some you'll need to be quick as unfortunately, this years sloe yield (in my neck of the woods) seems to be low and what there is seems to have ripened very early.

The Stewpot: August 2013

http://stewpot-brum.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html

Showcasing the best food and drink Birmingham has to offer. Friday, 2 August 2013. Over a year in planning, the 26th and 27th of July saw the first ever Birmingham Beer Bash. From my perspective: a weekend of adrenaline, stress, extreme heat, sleep deprivation, aches, goodwill, friendship, education, relief and elation. Above all, it was amazing to hear so many positive comments, it really does make everything worthwhile. Thank you to everyone who attended and drunk all the lovely, lovely beer. One of th...

The Stewpot: Markets

http://stewpot-brum.blogspot.com/p/markets.html

Showcasing the best food and drink Birmingham has to offer. Bull Ring indoor market. Along with the wholesale markets, it's hard to imagine Birmingham without these two fantastic resources. Stroll around the indoor market and you'll find a wealth of meat, fish, global fruit and veg as well as great range of Caribbean and Asian groceries. Look out for the occasional 'Market Meals' feature on this blog where I'll feature a dish made from ingredients sourced from the markets. Kings Norton Farmers Market.

The Stewpot: Eateries

http://stewpot-brum.blogspot.com/p/eateries.html

Showcasing the best food and drink Birmingham has to offer. Serving up hearty, comfort food from the American deep south. Expect Gumbo, Jambalaya, Burgers and great value for money.Soon to open their very own venue; the Church Inn located in the Jewellery Quarter. The name says it all really. Hearty pies to eat in or take with you. Right in the heart of town, next to the Bullring. Tucked away in King's Heath, serves an innovative take on tapas and mezze with a strong British and continental influence.

The Stewpot: Bamberg

http://stewpot-brum.blogspot.com/2013/10/bamberg.html

Showcasing the best food and drink Birmingham has to offer. Wednesday, 9 October 2013. The one thing I knew before I went on holiday is that I needed a holiday. In recent times, I'd had the luxury of spare time with which to plan such things, not this time. This time, the process was: 'find cheap flights to somewhere interesting.' Germany featured consistently among the cheapest destinations and then thoughts immediately went along the lines of 'can we get to Bamberg? The old town hall. There are only tw...

Roberto Ross - Professional Drinker: Professor Cornelius Ampleforth's Bathtub Gin

http://robertoross.blogspot.com/2012/02/professor-cornelius-ampleforths-bathtub.html

Roberto Ross - Professional Drinker. Thursday, 2 February 2012. Professor Cornelius Ampleforth's Bathtub Gin. I do love a good gin, the historically maligned social terror of the 18. Century features in an early blog post of mine, ( here. However, when I'm in a particularly sophisticated mood, the ice cube clinking, radiant refreshment of a gin and tonic becomes my drink of choice. Sorry Hogarth. I discovered a new concoction over Christmas, bought from my friends over at Stirchley Wines. While 2014 and ...

Roberto Ross - Professional Drinker: Gins you should be drinking

http://robertoross.blogspot.com/2011/09/gins-you-should-be-drinking.html

Roberto Ross - Professional Drinker. Friday, 30 September 2011. Gins you should be drinking. Once again, there is a great interest in gin. However, it's a spirit that has come a long way from the medicinal origins of its inventor, the seventeenth century Dutch physician Franciscus Sylvius. Was one of two prints produced by English artist, William Hogarth in 1751. In contrast to its companion print,. Which depicts its people as happy, healthy and thriving on ale,. The past few years have seen an explosion...

http://robertoross.blogspot.com/2012/12/robertos-beers-of-year-2012_7.html

Roberto Ross - Professional Drinker. Friday, 7 December 2012. Roberto’s Beers of the Year 2012. 1) Mikkeller Festival Special Edition 2012 – Stella 3 (20.1%). This Über-Imperial Stout by the Danish nomads is incredibly drinkable for something that’s punching at just over 20%. Its aroma is of rich chocolate and coconut, and the taste is an intense combination of raisins, molasses and hazelnuts with a woody and vanilla finish. Goes down like velvet. 2) 3 Fonteinen Armand’4 Oude Geuze Lente (6%). Bourbon ba...

Saturday, March 7, 2009. So I haven't blogged in a while. I've come to terms with my own personality and I've learned to accept that blogging daily, weekly, or sometimes even monthly will be a hard pressed task. . Pardon the above rant.  I was just thinking about how strange it may appear to drink coffee with sushi. . Music I have been listening to:. Other Lives - Other Lives EP. John Mark McMillan - The Medicine. Kings of Leon - Only by the Night. Mute Math - Spotlight EP. Saturday, March 07, 2009.

The Advancement | Worship. Theology. Culture.

Worship. Theology. Culture. April 20, 2014. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ and be found in himthat I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead. Phil. 3:8-10. I do not think so. The way to life is the way of the cross. By being humbled. How did you learn patience? It is so fitting for Easte...
