TB most commonly affects the lungs but can affect most other parts of the body including the brain, kidneys, bones, gastrointestinal system, genitourinary system, and lymph nodes. Although most forms of TB respond well to appropriate and consistent treatment, some forms of TB, such as TB meningitis, are often fatal unless diagnosed early. 480 000 people developed multi-drug resistant TB disease.
