I created this blog to fend off feelings of boredom and loneliness, and then i started gettin' social and it was nice out yesterday and i got distracted. Was this book the alarmist rant of an aging professor fearing the loss of this country? In a way, yes. Could Bauerlein have taken a more sympathetic tone when talking about youth? Sunday, November 8, 2009. New media writing reflection. I chose to work with audio, since my experience editing audio is limited. I used audacity a few times at my former job to create the soundtrack to audio slideshows, which were always simple edits with only one or two clips. for the class assignment, i wanted to do something a little more sophisticated. 1 listen to clips provided. 2 listen to clips provided again because i forgot what they sounded like. 4 finally upload some clips into audacity.

One of the scarier moments of my urban existence is traversing a broken escalator. it's an irrational fear, i know, but i can't help fantasizing the mechanism waking up mid-stride. contrarily, i somehow can't resist taking a chance and choosing it over a safe, static staircase. Hiking has been on my mind lately. there is a healthy, inherent fear i hold while hiking. one misstep and i'm pinballing amongst trees and crags and snakes! Technology is scary sometimes. It was interesting to read what feenberg had to say about user influence on design. as a user, i tend to take for granted that designers/technicians design and create with me in mind. apparently, i tend to be wrong. his anti-deterministic view of technology brings to mind my own thoughts on free will and destiny. In this way, users contribute to the design of technologies, though it is almost always after the fact. Read my real blogs.
