http://bigfixphilly.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
No We haven't stopped working. Wow It has been a long time since we've posted things. A very busy summer is turning into a very busy fall, but we're still cranking away on the house. We will post some pics of our progress soon. Here's a few to get you going. Copper roof complete. copper beech stump still there. Switching out the old skylight for a new one. Copper roof from above. Lifting out the stump. Trimming the oak (again). Demolishing the second floor front ceiling. 7 cu yds of mulch.

The Big Fix: December 2008
http://bigfixphilly.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
I have been working with Justin on the finish carpentry around the tops of the dormers and we've had nice success. The cedar looks beautiful. Here's some of the old insulation and rebuiding that had to be done to the structure. The squirrels had chewed the whole corner up. Peeling paint abound. The old paint is so thick, it is strange. But thankfully it comes off quite easily for the most part. Here's the rebuilt corner. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Big Sue LLC, Brooklyn NY. Evergreen Slate, Vermont.

The Big Fix: May 2012
http://bigfixphilly.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Here's the truck loaded with the three trees in NC. It was a long haul, but we survived. The Hornbeam lost some leaves but all is well after some heavy watering. Here are some more garden shots during the day. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Big Sue LLC, Brooklyn NY. John Stortz and Son Hand Tools, Philadelphia, PA. Greenable Building Supply, Philadelphia, PA. The Big Fix: Insulation!
http://bigfixphilly.blogspot.com/2012/07/insulation.html
We finally bit the bullet and blew insulation in our roof/crawl space yesterday. It was a beast, but what better incentive than a 94 degree day in July to get it going. We sweated all the way through our clothes, but we should be R38 up there (except for maybe a few tight spots that we couldn't reach). We went with formaldehyde-free AttiCat loose-fill fiberglass. All in all, a great day's work. We celebrated with some Portabello Burgers from Shake Shack. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

The Big Fix: Scaffolding down!
http://bigfixphilly.blogspot.com/2009/05/scaffolding-down.html
Tony and his crew took down the scaffolding on the front today. More importantly, they brought the copper panels for the front part of the roof! We should have several panels up tomorrow. The Big Fix: April 2009
http://bigfixphilly.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Benton ( Big Sue. Came down for a work session and we got the 3rd floor bathroom plumbing started, at long last. Amy and I removed all the old sheetrock and the sleepers before hand. See some dark photos below. Getting this back in shape will be for a later day, but it was nice to finally have a good look and clean it out. The good thing is that the copper isn't really very visible at all from the street, hopefully deterring the thieves. Not a pretty job. Cornice painting / MAJAKK 01. We will try again a...

The Big Fix: Copper Porch Panels
http://bigfixphilly.blogspot.com/2009/05/copper-porch-panels.html
Tonys been moving pretty fast around the porch. It looks great. We are getting comments as people walk down our temporary cul-de-sac to see the crane at work on the church down the street. Strange living on a dead end in the city- even if it is only for a while. The end of the day today should be looking really good I hope. I will take some better pics then . May 20, 2009 at 9:28 PM. June 19, 2009 at 8:20 PM. Wherre are the new pictures? Been checking all week. Need an update! Copper Beech R.I.P.
