Venus Climate Orbiter "AKATSUKI / PLANET-C". 松田佳久 東京学芸大 今村剛 JAXA. たとえば金星の大気は二酸化炭素 96.5 を主成分として、あとは微量の窒素 3.5 などです。 二酸化炭素は地球大気にはごく微量 0.035 しか含まれていませんが、金星では膨大な量の大気の主成分をなしています。 地球の熱帯地方では自転と逆方向の東風 貿易風 が卓越し、中緯度や高緯度では自転方向の西風 偏西風 です。 フェレル循環は地球の自転と極域 赤道間の温度差によって生じる波長数千kmの波 傾圧不安定波 にともなって引き起こされます。 1974年に米国の探査機マリナー10号が連続撮影した画像によれば、 雲はどこでも自転と同じ方向に 100m/秒もの速さで流れ、約4地球日で1周していたのです 図2。 この不思議な風は スーパーローテーション 超回転 とか 4日循環 とか呼ばれています。 大気には粘性 ねばっこさ があり、地面との間で摩擦が働くので、特別なしくみが働かないかぎりこのような風の分布は徐々に均されてしまい、 最終的には自転速度と大差ない風速に落ち着くはずです。
