Mother of Pearl: June 2008
http://thegirlpearl.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
Monday, June 23, 2008. Ward's Daycare, now open for business! Overall, our weekend was pretty low-key. But on Sunday, my nephew Aiden stayed with us for a couple of hours while my sister went to work. Since Patterson is now crawling and Aiden is beginning to walk, it was quite the circus! Do the things Aiden did, in her mind, she could! I like her thinking! At 3 PM, Matt had a brilliant idea - nap time! He turned to the Watercolor Jazz station on XM and closed the blinds. They must have been exhauste...

Mother of Pearl: October 2008

Monday, October 27, 2008. We took Patterson with us and though she obviously didn’t understand what was going on, I thought it would be a great introduction to the political process – something sentimental for her to look back on when she’s old enough to mark her own chad. She felt differently. As soon as we got in line, she turned into the hulk! Here’s to hoping Patty’s was the only misconduct taking place at the polls! Posted by T. Ward. Sunday, October 19, 2008. Mother of Pearl: School Days
http://thegirlpearl.blogspot.com/2009/07/school-days.html
Thursday, July 16, 2009. Patterson Pearl started school a couple of weeks back. As you can imagine, we had a bit of a rocky start*. She cried, I cried. I cried, I cried! Here's a couple of pictures I took on her first day. She posed for the camera like a top model until I reminded her that she would be. At school for the day. Then, she gave me the cutest worry-wart look (bottom photo). Now, several weeks later, school is going great! She even claps at the mention of school (you go Patty!

Wednesday, July 30, 2008. Posted by T. Ward. Monday, July 28, 2008. The New Work Weeeek! Recently, my employer implemented a 4-day work week to offset rising gas prices. This may not seem like a big deal to some, but it’s H-U-G-E to me because it means that I get to spend one extra day with the Princess, Patterson Pearl. It also means that we can give grandma a day off! From scratch, I made Buttermilk Cupcakes with Chocolate Cream Cheese Icing. So back to our “day off,” we ended the night wit...Last nigh...

Mother of Pearl: More cheese, please.
http://thegirlpearl.blogspot.com/2008/11/more-cheese-please.html
Friday, November 28, 2008. More cheese, please. Generally, I find staged portraits to be undesirable. The results can sometimes be stiff and un. Natural. I was encouraged by friends/family to have holiday photos taken of Patty, so I obliged. I scheduled an appointment for 6:30 PM on a weekday to try to avoid the crowds. Apparently, there's no such thing as avoiding crowds at a department store portrait studio between November 1 and December 24. Who knew? The same way, including the photographer. No m...

Friday, February 27, 2009. Growing up is not so tough except when I've had enough, but there's lots of fun stuff.". If you've seen PBS Kids or Sprout, chances are, you know Caillou. For about two months, we've been getting to know him very well. We try to keep television to a minimum for Patty, but Caillou seems to be the cure for the common meltdown. I even keep a few episodes on standby (thank you, DVR) for emergency situations. The picture to the left is of Patty cheering during Caillou's opening song.
