Einarr & Sigarda Girbeson: Red & pink
http://einarrsigarda.blogspot.com/2014/08/our-daughter-started-this-tape-woven.html
Einarr and Sigarda Girbeson. Our daughter started this tape woven band last year. Yes, you read that right: last year. But at the age of 5 (then 4! Children have a very very. Short attention span. so she dropped it after two days. Still, the results aren't bad, I think she did a nice job here. I dug up this band yesterday and I have found a nice destination for it. She got a nice soft green woolen tunic from someone, as their own child had grown out of it. The tape will go on that tunic! Jorvik, York, UK.

Einarr & Sigarda Girbeson: 06.2011

Einarr and Sigarda Girbeson. Okay, okay, okay. I know naalbound toys weren't found. Only those two wooden horses. But can you blame me? I started at the top, with the bear's head. A Josephine knot and then 7 stitches in the loop. After this, I increased until I had the right shape and continued in the Oslo-stitch. You can easily do this yourself, all you need to decide is how big you want the bear to be. This is the head. More on the hangarok. I'll try to add the pattern soon for you too. The Whitsun wee...

Einarr and Sigarda Girbeson. The pink underdress I made for Rùna last year is now a knee length tunic. someone is growing fast! So I made some alterations: I made the neckline a bit wider so that she can fit her head through it again and I fortified the seams, after Nille Glaesel's book. I also added a nice tape woven trim, made by a friend since I didn't have a lot of time. Things are fine here in Dutch Vikingland by the way, lots of nice events in the near future so watch this space! Jorvik, York, UK.

Einarr & Sigarda Girbeson: Is it August already??
http://einarrsigarda.blogspot.com/2014/08/is-it-august-already.html
Einarr and Sigarda Girbeson. Is it August already? Goodness, time flies! It has been too long since I last wrote a post. And it is already August again. At the moment I am sewing some new Viking clothes and, as you can see, she has become our cooking specialist. Here we have onion soup with grass and stones. Yes, stones. Anyway, we're fine and looking forward to another market in Archeon! Pics will follow soon. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Medieval and Viking news.

Einarr and Sigarda Girbeson. Progress on the hangarok piece. Doing needlework on a tiny piece of linnen is not a good idea if you are moving and doing a life laundry at the same time. Things that small tend to disappear. So, when I thought it was lost and gone forever, I found it again last week, yay! I don't have to tell you what great fun it is to continue stitching this again. Now, about these 'celtic' type images and designs, I have it on good authority that these animal designs are actually Viking!

Einarr and Sigarda Girbeson. To my surprise I found some left-over grey wool which was enough for a new hangarok for Rune. It was only an hour's work and the 'turtle brooches' are actually buttons from the. Ain't life grand when everything comes together :). Meet Ojo or Wickie. The ears were made of a simple Josephine knot with a few extra stitches in the second round. Rune absolutely loves her bear! July 7th: Rune has decided the bear should be named Wickie. Einarr & Sigarda Girbeson: Hangarok embroidery
http://einarrsigarda.blogspot.com/2014/08/hangarok-embroidery.html
Einarr and Sigarda Girbeson. Well, I can't call myself Speedy Gonzalez, but at least this embroidery for my new hangarok is finally done! This just wasn't on the top of my to-do list, however, the finished piece turned out to be quite pretty. Labels: Needlework and embroidery. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Einarr and Sigarda Girbeson. The R is done! The Bayeux initial we have embroidered together is now done! Of course, there is a HUGE deal of creative/poetic license here. I mean, although the Bayeux stitch was used on the Tapestry, an initial like this one was never found. It is therefore highly unlikely, if not impossible, that it was used on the bag of a little 5 y.o. who thinks she is a Viking princess. Let me know what you think, I welcome your comments! Einarr and Sigarda Girbeson. I am still working on a pattern for naalbinding, please bear with me. Things are hectic here. Also, we are going to cancel our website, but this blog will STAY. Hopefully, this "downsizing" will also make me a bit more active again when it comes to posting and such. I am very sorry for being such a bad host. Here's a photo of Einarr on the battle field in Archeon last August. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Medieval and Viking news. Jorvik, York, UK.
