Thursday, July 9, 2015. It's no big surprise, I love riding logging roads. Especially when I can talk friends into riding them with me. The more remote and rugged the better. The Fleet Main fits this profile well. After a long climb up from the Koksilah River the route becomes gated and deactivated as it descends into the valley before rejoining with the active Fleet Main. Ten self serve checkpoints, all reachable by your choice of pavement, dirt, gravel, singletrack or whatever else you choose. As always, routing will be critical. So will your equipment choice. Somewhere in those whiskey fueled evenings we've thrown around the idea of doing something stupid - well, more stupid than we usually do. So just to rub it in, and make the loss all the more bitter, I decided to look up the Colnago painting process. Well, it so happens that there’s a video produced by Colnago of exactly that. After watching it’s not hard to understand why these bikes command the prices they do, even used. As cliché as it sounds, they are works of art.
