About stuff I do. Monday, 6 July 2015. Humber Speedster Project - Update #9. Alternator in situ with link belt. Alternator pulley with nut lock tabs in place. I must have strong words with the design department ;-) Packer plates, which we’ll call thermal barriers and were intended all along, will fix that ;-). The unfinished non-supercharged intake manifold. Starter motor with support bracket in place. Hubert The Humber totally naked! A lovely 40 year old sludge. The peri pump in place oiling the system.

About stuff I do. Sunday, 31 August 2014. When fans get out of control! On a bright and clear Sunday morning I was coming home from a swap meet in 'Fred' my 1947 Studebaker M5 pick up, all seemd OK until I got to within sight of my house - BANG! Check it out, a lot of really interesting stuff about engine cooling, not as simple as sticking an electric fan onto the fron of the radiator. Anyway, building fan shroud shouldn't be too difficult, should it! The sealing tape in place just before installation.

About stuff I do. Tuesday, 13 May 2014. Humber Speedster Project - Update # 4. The design was a collaboration bewteen myself and my wife Svenja, we think it turned out great. It took a while to get from the first sketch, but it turned out great. My thanks to Ray and Lyn at LLEDO Trimmers - Murarrie. I have a sneaking suspicion I've created a rod for my own back with all that brass that will need polishing! Heres'a good view of the new radiator core and rebuilt distributor. About stuff I do. Sunday, 7 June 2015. Humber Speedster Project - Update # 8. I’ll list what has been done, as shown in the photos. SUPERCHARGER MANIFOLDS: The last blog showed the inlet manifold completed. The manifold between the S/c and the cylinder head, (which I thought was going to easier! I knew the space between the steering box and the intake manifold was pretty tight – too tight. I had to cut my completed beautiful manifold ;-( Oh well them’s the breaks. About stuff I do. Monday, 8 September 2014. Humber Speedster Project - Update # 5. The pic above left shows the dampers complete with the arm before dismantling. The pic above right shows the rust holes in the outer oil reservoir. The pic below shows the assembly sequence. The two recesses in the base plate allow the dampers to be assembled for left and right application, (I think! I guess I'll find out when I start assembling them. The middle rib curved to the string lines - now this was tedious to do!

So I replaced it with a modern type I had on the shelf to keep the start-up on track, (I’ll look in to that other coil later as I’d still like to use it for the look). My concerns about the oil pressure were unfounded as it ran at a respectable 30 psi. I ran the engine several times to try and bed everything in after the rebuild, albeit some 14 years after!
