Sonalksis Development Blog: July 2007
http://sonalksisdev.blogspot.com/2007_07_01_archive.html
Saturday, July 07, 2007. I spent nearly the entire week dithering. If you'll pardon the horrific pun. Obviously a mastering limiter has dithering. Right? So, naturally we wanted to provide the best dithering in the world, because that's just what we do. This is really interesting, go do this:. Http:/ www.24-96.net/dither/. It's very cool. However PLEASE DO HEED THE WARNING ABOUT LISTENING TO IT QUIETLY! That said, I tried it out at a higher volume. and I gotta say, things didn't change TOO much! Well, we...

Sonalksis Development Blog: December 2007
http://sonalksisdev.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 07, 2007. It's been a tense one today. I finish work for the year tomorrow (to work on my thesis). This afternoon, I was three days behind schedule. This evening has been intense. With a good codebase you can work wonders though ;). I need to wake up tomorrow, finish the DSP for Ultimate-D (just some tweaking), do final builds, do final alpha tests, and then I can ship MultiLimit, MaxLimit and Ultimate-D to beta. Wooh. It's been painful, like it always is. How cool is that? I was reading...

Sonalksis Development Blog: April 2007
http://sonalksisdev.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html
Friday, April 20, 2007. What goes on at Castle Sonalksis? I feel I ought to give a quick update as to what's going on behind the scenes. TBK3 finished its first beta phase. A few minor things to tidy up. and a decision that it should go even nastier. So, it's just ridiculous now. Totally ridiculous. Set to extreme settings I can't make any sense of what's going on at all. :D. I think the testers like it. Audio perverts. So, now it's just polishing and making sure all the bugs are closed and buried. I bou...

Musicwise Gear Blog: March 2009
http://musicwisehouston.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 12, 2009. Ace Tone Rhythm Ace FR-70. We just got in one of the most unusual drum machines I've ever seen, the Ace Tone Rhythm Ace FR-70. It's similar in sound to many of the early Ace Tone/Roland boxes with one big difference: it has an enormous built-in speaker cabinet. It's a monster! Watch this space for more on unusual vintage drum boxes, we have a collection of them in our studio and I'll be taking pics and recording them for posts here in the near future. Links to this post. The EP ...

Musicwise Gear Blog: Recording Inner Lights
http://musicwisehouston.blogspot.com/2008/10/recording-inner-lights.html
Wednesday, October 22, 2008. We're down to mixing on the new Inner Lights EP. Everything went pretty well with the new set up, except the loo going on the fritz! These guys have a great sound combining elements of late '60's early 70's era Stones and Who with the atmosphere and energy of more recent UK artists like the Verve and plenty of southern jam for good measure. A very satisfying sound indeed. For Kevin's guitar, I wanted to distinguish it a bit from Trey's so we used a 60's Silvertone tube amp an...

Musicwise Gear Blog: Korg Polysix & SC Drumtraks
http://musicwisehouston.blogspot.com/2009/03/korg-polysix-sc-drumtraks.html
Wednesday, March 11, 2009. Korg Polysix and SC Drumtraks. Just got a Korg Polysix in. The board's in pretty good shape. We cracked open the case to check out the infamous battery issue and voila! It already has a spankin' new battery. Man, this thing is mean sounding, gritty and begging to rip a lead in unison mode. Also we got in a super minty Sequential Drumtraks. I've never seen a piece of SC gear this clean! PLease email me if this is still up for sale? March 26, 2009 at 1:32 PM.
