Stuff I made

Tuesday, November 10, 2015. The past two months in my quilting bee have been a bit of a challenge for me fabric wise. And I find it simply baffling when I don't have something suitable in my stash. There's so much in there! October's queen bee wanted her Checker Block. Now I am on the hunt for fabric for the November queen, who wants a red and green Christmasy block. That green is proving elusive. And to compound the problem I need to make four blocks because she accidentally made for for my month. I whi...

Stuff I made: August 2015

http://www.stuffimadethisweek.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html

Monday, August 31, 2015. Here's my latest swap finished, dropped in the mail this morning. This is for the #textmeminiquiltswap. The only requirement was that we use text fabrics in our mini. My partner said she likes all colours, but not rainbow designs or pinks and purples so much (which is so much of my stash), and bold geometric prints. The gears started turning. I really like the added dimension the text prints give the mini, and how it softens and ties together the bright colours. I kept it pre...

Stuff I made: September 2015

http://www.stuffimadethisweek.blogspot.com/2015_09_01_archive.html

Friday, September 25, 2015. Another month, another bee block. Last month I was queen bee and I've started getting blocks in the mail from my teammates. What fun! The September queen bee picked a nifty block called Jagged Little Pill. It's fast and easy to put together. I made a practice block first before moving onto the real deal. Then, perhaps in a moment of craziness, I decided to host my own swap! I called it #polaroidgreetingswap. To keep things manageable, we decided to close the sign-ups early&#46...

Stuff I made: All things Alison

http://www.stuffimadethisweek.blogspot.com/2015/11/all-things-alison.html

Monday, November 9, 2015. This round of the Schnitzel and Boo swap was a breeze for me. My partner said her favourite designer is Alison Glass - plenty of that in my stash! And she'd love a Mariner's Compass. Coming up with a swap plan is often the tough part, so I was happy to know exactly what to make. I found a lovely free pattern for the block. And I was still in a paper-piecing groove after my New York Beauty. Ps This post joined the weekly link party. Monday, November 09, 2015. I like to make stuff...

Stuff I made: Lucky me!

http://www.stuffimadethisweek.blogspot.com/2015/01/lucky-me.html

Saturday, January 24, 2015. Yesterday my #schnitzelandboominiquiltswap package arrived in the mail. And I couldn't be more excited as I opened it! So many wonderful presents inside from the talented and generous Jodie of Persimmon Pear. She obviously put so much thought into the quilts she made - yes quilts! And all the extras. It was all so me! Here's everything that was in the giant box. So many goodies! I feel so incredibly lucky and spoiled with this special package. Thanks so much Jodie! By Canoe Ri...

ms.tee.kay: Ishbel, again

http://msteekay.blogspot.com/2014/09/ishbel-again.html

Sunday, September 7, 2014. This one for my pal C, who celebrated a special birthday recently. Full credit to my other pal Johanna, for being my life coach on this one when I got impatient in the lace repeats. (I hope you all have a Johanna in your life telling you it will be worth it in the end). And I also hope you have a friend like Miss C, worth knitting an Ishbel for. The yarn: Madelinetosh prairie in Tart. Needle: 3.75 mm. Posted by ms.tee.kay. September 8, 2014 at 9:45 AM. 2012 by ms.tee.kay.

http://msteekay.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html

Monday, November 11, 2013. Little hats for little dears. Did a total number on me - and got me thinking about making kiddo hats. I settled on this pattern. Because there's a bit of slouch. Without overstating it, slouchy hats on adorable children make me happy to be alive. These ocean-coloured hats are destined for two little sisters who love the beach. Pale Blue hat - Tosh DK (Windowpane), Dark blue hat Madtosh Vintage (Ocean). Needles: 4mm and 4.5mm. Mitten pattern: Stars and Stripes mittens.

ms.tee.kay: Moc making

http://msteekay.blogspot.com/2014/09/moc-making.html

Wednesday, September 3, 2014. I took a moccasin making course a few weeks ago at Crown Flora. Wow - what a beautiful space - every corner filled with handmade wonders). I was curious to see what it was like to work with leather and well now I know. It's maybe not the best thing for my weak little hands. But I did finish my shoes and they're pretty neato. I just have to spray and stretch them and they'll make cute little winter slippers. Posted by ms.tee.kay. What an amazing place! Fa la la fridays.

The yarn: Tanis Fiber Arts cashmere and silk singles, frost colourway. The needles: 3.75 mm. Posted by ms.tee.kay. Its a fun pattern. I was wearing mine yesterday as one of the first shawls to be worn as the weather is turning cooler. September 13, 2014 at 11:30 AM. September 15, 2014 at 1:34 PM. The lace patterning and your garter stitches are perfection!

Friday, October 17, 2014. On how the happy and the meaningful life differ. Is so pretty (free pattern! Have a very nice weekend! Posted by ms.tee.kay. Sunday, October 5, 2014. I put some birds on it. I love everything about this material - the dove blue colour, the flocks of fleeting birds, the gentle drape of the organic canvas. I loved it so much I bought three metres of it from Greenwood Quiltery. Posted by ms.tee.kay. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). 2012 by ms.tee.kay. Fa la la fridays. I made it so.

ms.tee.kay: Gloves galore

http://msteekay.blogspot.com/2014/08/gloves-galore.html

Sunday, August 31, 2014. So this summer was spent making a lot of fingerless gloves. Without going into all of the sad details, there was lots of turmoil at work and when the going gets tough, the tough get knitting. I know that for new things to happen, old things have to end - but man, sometimes you just wanna hang onto the old. Ok September, it's go time. Bring on the cold weather, my friends and I are ready for ya. Posted by ms.tee.kay. Beautiful and so thoughtful. September 1, 2014 at 7:31 AM.

Posted by ms.tee.kay. Lynn One, Purl Two. It makes for the perfect book bag. Do people still have book bags anymore? Well not they do! I made it so.
