Episode 20: The Stumptown Vegans Guide to One Day in Portland. August 19, 2011. Episode 20: The Ultimate Guide to One Day in Portland. Having written restaurant reviews for vegans for years, folks often ask us just where they should eat in Portland, OR, and we’re always happy to offer advice. Now, there are obvious stand-out choices, and some decision-making to take into consideration: How long are you here for? What part of town are you staying in? Are you looking for brunch? Do you require a burrito?

Native Foods Cafe, Bridgeport Village (Tigard). November 9, 2011. Over the weekend, I attended the soft opening of first Portland locale for growing Californian chain, Native Foods Cafe. The new vegan restaurant officially opens out in Bridgeport Village today (11/8/2011) and we hear they’re eyeing two more locations in the metro area, whose locations remain secret…so far. Our table’s spread. Crunchy Kale Salad, back right. Native Chicken Wing with Buffalo Sauce – I vote Ranch. Chicken Run Ranch Burger.

Midori Japan: Vegan Living in Tokyo: Couchsurfing through Chiba
http://midorijapan.blogspot.com/2009/10/couchsurfing-through-chiba.html
Midori Japan: Vegan Living in Tokyo. Tuesday, October 13, 2009. After we left Nikko, we headed back to Tokyo and stayed at New Koyo. For a night in a "double" room. It really was just enough room for our bags and for us to sleep, but it worked (and it was cheap). But a tip for anyone else who plans to stay in the Minamisenju. Area, there are tons of other cheap hostels near New Koyo that are a bit harder to find online. One that I spotted around the corner from New Koyo was Hotel Accela. That was down th...
Fueled by Popcon: December 2008
http://fueledbypopcorn.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Saturday, December 20, 2008. Mr Bolsh and I had our 1 year wedding. Anniversary last July, but due to an unpleasant day. Before our anniversary we never celebrated. Since we've both been busy with our jobs, and other activities finding a weekend when it was just the two of us has been difficult. We finally made time to celebrate after my recent trip from Vietnam. I made a very wintery meal for a summer celebration but it was enjoyed. But back to food - Since the Bolsh family date night ended up falling o...
Fueled by Popcon: April 2008

Wednesday, April 16, 2008. Omlet and Fake Cheese. I enjoy new food products so I pick them up every once and awhile. Lately, those products have been fake cheese. Below is how I've used them. This is similar to SusanV. S recipe, but baked. I mixed in spinach to the batter. The inside is stuffed with steamed broccoli and Cheesely. Seemed to be a cross between Scheese. Which is my favorite for taste, though it does smell like V-Dog. In taste and Follow Your Heart. You can see the two cheeses here: Scheese.

Saturday, October 31, 2009. Fried Green Miso Tomatoes. With my tomatoes not ripening fast enough I've had to pick them hoping they would ripen off the vine, but that didn't happen either so I went with fried green tomatoes. Fried Green Miso Tomatoes:. 1/4 cup miso (red). 2 Tablespoons nutritional yeast. Mix the miso with 1/2 cup of water until smooth. Slice the tomatoes and place in the miso. Add more water if needed. Let the tomatoes marinate overnight. Monday, October 26, 2009. Basic Vegan Sponge Cake.

Monday, March 31, 2008. Strawberries. I love them. I saw them at the market last weekend and bought them - but they are such a tease. Early berries are never that great, let alone those sour California berries! I can't wait until Oregon's sweet berry season starts. With that said, I was inspired by the berries and make this cake:. Vanilla cake with strawberry jam filling and strawberry frosting. I made the strawberry frosting by mixing strawberry jam and powdered sugar with some earth balance. Just wante...
Fueled by Popcon: BattleStar Galactica Pizza
http://fueledbypopcorn.blogspot.com/2010/01/battlestar-galactica-pizza.html
Wednesday, January 20, 2010. I've been a fan of Battlestar Galactica. For awhile. The one element of the show that I always laugh at is the minimization of right angles! Every time I see the books or papers. In the show that have corners cut at angles I am thrown out of the show and reminded, "this world is like yours, but different! So Say We All. Ha, ha. Im working my way through the series right now! Have you played the Battlestar Galactica Board Game? This looks so delicious! View my complete profile.
Fueled by Popcon: Eating Through the Alphabet
http://fueledbypopcorn.blogspot.com/2010/02/eating-through-alphabet.html
Sunday, February 14, 2010. Eating Through the Alphabet. When I was 8 I started participating in Lent - I vowed to turn off the lights every time I left the room. Each year from then on I gave something up every year to better my life. This was odd since I grew up Protestant in a Mormon community, where I picked up this Catholic tradition of giving up something every Lent, I do not know. 16 years ago I gave up meat and never went back. 11 years ago I went vegan and never went back. 2 Eat rice as needed.
Mama VeeGee's Vegan Kitsch*n: the thirty second cake.
http://mamavg.blogspot.com/2009/10/thirty-second-cake.html
Tuesday, October 6, 2009. The thirty second cake. I've been getting home very late this past week. In fact, I haven't been home much for the past two weeks, and it's taking a clear toll on my diet and mood. But alas, my complaints are for another day and have near wiped me out already. Only a few more days and a "normal" schedule will return. Disorganization.). But you can make a mini-cake - a CUPcake if you will - very, very quickly. You remember Easy-Bake ovens? I had a Mrs. Field's oven. The center ho...

Wednesday, February 18, 2009. I had a major craving for some corn chowder yesterday, and after sadly discovering that I was missing like 5 ingredients for the VWAV version, I decided to scour the internets for another one.
