As a person who stutters, you are not alone. Knowing that others think the same way and have had similar experiences can be very reassuring. The environment is supportive, and encourages change in individuals and the group as a whole. Our clinical research shows that attending regularly and taking part in long term follow-up can significantly reduce stuttering behaviours and the impact they can have on everyday life. Stammering is a communication disorder that affects around 1% of men and women in adulthood. Around 45,000 adults in Ireland stutter. The cause for stuttering is unknown; a cure has not been discovered. However, there are ways to ease the daily struggle and many people have gone on to great success in their lives despite their stammering:.
