Just Bring Wine: Brokedown Holiday
http://justbringwine.blogspot.com/2011/11/brokedown-holiday.html
Sunday, November 6, 2011. As we near the holiday season, it is only natural to reminisce on those past: family recipes and grand dinners at the table. I cannot help but notice the plethora of magazines featuring beautiful pictures of turkeys or roasts displayed on perfectly set tables and I wonder how the * * do they do that? Williams Sonoma has adorable leaf shaped pie crust cutters, perfect for making my ineptitude decorative. Recipe By: Food Network Magazine November 2011. 2 1/4 cups AP flour. Place a...

Just Bring Wine: September 2010

Monday, September 27, 2010. Cheese Making for Family Dinner. Makes 8 to 10 ounces. 8 cups whole milk. 3 to 4 TB fresh lemon juice. Remove the pan from the heat and, using a slotted spoon, transfer the curds to the cheesecloth-lined sieve. Now pour the whey and the remaining smaller bits of cheese and bundle them together. Twist gently to squeeze out as much whey as possible. I can't eat Mexican food without a good margarita. This recipe was inspired by both Ina Garten's Real Margaritas and The Level ...

Just Bring Wine: Thank you
http://justbringwine.blogspot.com/2011/12/thank-you.html
Tuesday, December 27, 2011. The ornaments are back in their box, the absence of snowmen and garland has the house looking normal yet sparse and it is not without melancholy that Christmas carols no longer fill the air of the Pierce household. Christmas has come and gone, and though handing someone a wrapped present at this date is less than ideal, I do have a few deliveries to make to the friends we celebrated with this year. Recipe By: Food and Wine Magazine, December 2011. 2 cups cake flour. Scrape the...

Just Bring Wine: August 2010
http://justbringwine.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 27, 2010. The Culinary High Dive. With the Hawaiian sun blazing, I stood on this thirty foot cliff and prepared to jump. All I could think about was how much lower this cliff had looked from the beach. For a full five minutes, I tiptoed towards the edge, only to shuffle back to safety. And, finally, I jumped. About a year ago, I decided to host fifty-two parties in fifty-two weeks. As I dawn the completion of this project I’m reminded of those minutes on the cliff. Posted by Amy and Lori.

Just Bring Wine: July 2010
http://justbringwine.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 27, 2010. It seems that when one thing improves, another falls off; party #47 had a perfectly executed timetable. The post for party #47 is a more than tardy. I have no excuses worth discussing. A mere forty minutes into cocktail hour, we met round the dinner table ready to dig into the rustic and homey meal. All seemed perfect with the exception of the roasted potatoes. How is it that a 4 pound chicken can bake in 2 hours but a potato sliced in half is still hard in the middle? Hearth Brea...

Just Bring Wine: October 2010
http://justbringwine.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Monday, October 18, 2010. But mom, it's hot outside! My mother makes a fantastic chicken soup, and reliably had a pot waiting for me whenever I returned home from college for winter break. When I began cooking, it was one of the first soups that I was determined to master. About five years and many recipes later, I am happy to offer my own recipe. Recipe created by: Lori Pierce. 1 TB Grapeseed oil. 1 large yellow onion finely diced. 3 stalks celery, chopped. 3 medium carrots peeled, and chopped. Add the ...
