Okay, so we're talking coats here. I like coats. You like coats. We all bloody well like coats and have done for ages. When I look at my treasure that is the bloated collection of crochet patterns over the years, there are coats from virtually the beginning. Here are some of my faves from the archives, with comments, of course! Who wouldn't love a swagger coat? Who doesn't like the sound of the word swagger? I love this coat and think it looks fresh and modern as it did in 1935 when this was published.

What follows is an ongoing photo gallery of images that I hope you find interesting and inspiring, too. When possible, I will also show photos of my attempts at the designs. I. A note about the organization - I have arranged this section by item category, not by period. I think it's intriguing to see how things change and how they stay the same. I hope you find these snippets from the past as achingly inspiring as I do. Anyway, on with the show. Sweaters, blouses, vests, coats. Skirts, Dresses, pants.

A life in the arts. Saturday, August 30, 2008. Many years ago, I worked quite a bit as a wardrobe supervisor for off-Broadway shows here in New York. By far, my favorite place to work was The American Place Theatre on W.46th St. Run by the legendary Wynn Handman, this theatre nurtured the careers of many great actors and playwrights. I was in the wings of the stage looking on and absolutely horrified! While John never left the stage, he was supposed to come to the stage-right wing where I happened to sit...

Felieke van der Leest. Crochet Guild of America. Xplorations. topics of interest to the intellectually curious hooker. Being a fantastical collection of my muses from the past to inspire the best of the future. Of books and magazines, new and old, strange and wonderful, fascinating and colorful. Wherein your host natters on incessantly, babbling on about matters of interest to virtually no one.

A life in the arts. Saturday, August 9, 2008. Not the band, and certainly not the book in the bible- this is a way of explaining what this funny little section of subwayhooker is all about. I have a past. What about the Art Gallery you ran? Or your ex-boyfriend John Malkovich, the movie star you costumed in your other life? Or your weekly show at the Knitting Factory in NYC? What about some images? Come on, I want to know it ALL! August 10, 2008 at 6:27 PM. Oh and fix that bloody masthead/banner.
