Adventures into the Great Beyond

Adventures into the Great Beyond. Monday, October 1, 2012. Other Images that I have found since I've been back but would still like to share. With being back for over a few months I wanted to post these last two pictures. The first above just to truly show the comedy of where I was in compared to the rest of the world. Saturday, July 21, 2012. This shows on the right side the spectrometer which will detect the light that is seen by the sensor which is mounted on the left side at the end of that silver tu...

Adventures into the Great Beyond

http://summerinsvalbard.blogspot.com/2012/07/for-beginning-of-this-week-i-was-again.html

Adventures into the Great Beyond. Wednesday, July 18, 2012. This I think gives a very good view of what Longyearbyen looks like in the summer time. Now in order to reach the cabin we have to travel across the top of this plateau and then down the other side. The way across was a perfect combination barren rocks, snow, and very soggy moss. You can see all four of them as they look for another spot to cross, they finally just decided that they would have to get wet. I don't think many things can beat a cab...

Adventures into the Great Beyond

http://summerinsvalbard.blogspot.com/2012/07/today-was-simply-one-of-those-days.html

Adventures into the Great Beyond. Saturday, July 14, 2012. Today was simply one of those days where as soon as you look out the window and see how beautiful it is outside your simply cant do anything except go outside and enjoy the day. So when it looks like this outside. you go outside. So I went for a nice walk out along the road following the water and the old coal bucket lines, which made for some great pictures. Which of course means that they don't have any stop signs and at any intersection there ...

Adventures into the Great Beyond: May 2012

http://summerinsvalbard.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html

Adventures into the Great Beyond. Thursday, May 31, 2012. In the front is obviously the snowmobile that I would be taking up to KHO, and then behind it is the Swedish "bandvagn" that we had used last time. I only wish I knew how to drive the Swedish tank because that thing is awesome. So in order to go up to KHO I had to suit up into my UNIS work suit. There was little shoveling to do this second time but upon our first arrival we had our work cut out for us as seen by the snowbank piled up on the left s...

Adventures into the Great Beyond

http://summerinsvalbard.blogspot.com/2012/07/with-my-bags-mostly-packed-and-my.html

Adventures into the Great Beyond. Saturday, July 21, 2012. Now for the last few days I have been preforming the final testing and have hopefully collected everything I need to be able to put together a report explaining what I have accomplished. In terms of what it looks like well. Sorry for the blurry photo but I figure it still shows the basic setup. You can also see the sensor looking at -80 degrees on the vertical axis during some of the testing. The first picture was taken in the 1930's and the next...

Summer in Suomi

A place to record and share some of the life changing experiences I will be encountering this summer during my Youth For Understanding exchange in Finland. Monday, August 17, 2009. Here is the Essay I wrote for FUSYE YFU at the end of the summer:. Megan Yeo August 3, 2009. At first look, Finland is a world apart from Stafford Springs Connecticut, USA. However, when I became accustomed to life in Finland I stopped thinking "Oh, this is so new and exciting! We have became very good friends over the summer&...

Summer in Swansea!

The story of my summer in Swansea, Wales. Wednesday, 18 July 2012. After our wonderful trip to Big Pit, Angela and I drove about an hour south to the west side of Cardiff and arrived at St. Fagans National History Museum. I know you are probably thinking, "yeah yeah, I've been to history museums before," but I bet you haven't been to one like this. at least I know I hadn't. Old farm house with thatched roof. There is a pretty good video at the bottom of this page. Plus more information about it. An old g...

my summer in tagalog | …and life in the midwest

My summer in tagalog. 8230;and life in the midwest. June 30, 2011. I don’t talk politics. Most people who know me are aware of this. I try to avoid people and situations that solicit my opinion on politics. I think it’s because I’m truly very unapologetically moderate. After a viewing of Burma VJ (which is a great film about the Saffron Revolution, check it out! June 17, 2011. I’m 1/8 of the way through the program! After a day of orientation, we dove right in.
