Ambalafeno is really a cluster of three villages in the central highlands of Madagascar near Antsirabe. By now TJ had developed malaria and was getting worse. We scheduled our arrival to be just after the villagers got out of church. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by the chief and others on the city council. TJ had muscle spasms from the hike the day before so we were moving pretty slowly. We hired two Malagasy men who carried our gifts and clothing balanced on their heads.
