The Painter's Space: March 2015
http://cmunozart.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
I'm a mom . . . who paints. Tuesday, March 31, 2015. 45 and the joys of a studio apprentice. I quickly discovered the easy task that I thought was set up, wasn't so easy. There is something about a red pincushion that defies the ability to see value. It's too distracting! Every time I would focus on a different part of the painting, my eye kept going back to that bright red. All in all, I'm giving myself a C. My studio apprentice, however, gets an A for her help and the challenge! Links to this post.

I'm a mom . . . who paints. Wednesday, February 19, 2014. Waiting for the rain, part 1. I began by sketching the basic shapes in the positions I wanted and then blocking them in with color. It had more of an impressionistic feel until I got to this point. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). My Daily Paintworks Gallery. Follow me on Facebook! Promote Your Page Too. The Painter's Space: May 2015

I'm a mom . . . who paints. Friday, May 22, 2015. Our yard has exploded in green recently. So when there was a break in the cloudy coverage of the last few days, I grabbed my easel and backpack and rushed out the door. Sometimes you just need to get outside in the sun! While my Happy Cricket chased butterflies and brought me a never-ending selection of wildflowers, rocks, sticks, and yes, some bugs, I tried following Lori Putnam's. Method from her video Bold Brushstrokes and Confident Color. 1, if you me...

The Painter's Space: January 2014
http://cmunozart.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
I'm a mom . . . who paints. Wednesday, January 29, 2014. Well, I did try to warn everyone that consistency this year would be my difficulty. I'm not saying that as an excuse, more of an apology. Here we are 2 weeks later and I still haven't posted anything. The truth is, I still haven't really done that much art besides my daily value scale and drawing exercises. Well, that and a couple of doodles of irises as well, but nothing serious. I've been drifting. Drifting is over, time to get to work! An online...

The Painter's Space: #49 and 49 again and again!
http://cmunozart.blogspot.com/2015/05/49-and-49-again-and-again.html
I'm a mom . . . who paints. Tuesday, May 19, 2015. 49 and 49 again and again! Ok, I've come to some very solid rules about painting lately. 1, if you mess up on a painting, it is far better to wipe it off than to keep on trying to fix it. Things tend to get bigger as you fix them - like the lid and spout on my coffee pot. So then I went back to grisaille to triple check my perspective and values. It turned out pretty well! The Painter's Space: Painting, Painting, Painting - #47
http://cmunozart.blogspot.com/2015/04/painting-painting-painting-47.html
I'm a mom . . . who paints. Thursday, April 16, 2015. Painting, Painting, Painting - #47. I have realized the number of paintings I have produced has gone down in the last couple of weeks. However, I have still been painting. I've painted walls, and doors, and ceilings. Nothing seems to say fresh clean house like a new coat of paint! And I have a particular affinity to buttery yellow walls and a red front door. All that use of painting supplies paid off in this case! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

I'm a mom . . . who paints. Friday, February 27, 2015. 38 and 39 in Grisaille. I have a new set up! Thank you Paul Foxton. I've created my own Munsell-style value scale and started using a cardboard square (picture mat) to frame my setup while I'm painting. It's helping a LOT! I'm able to see the setup a lot more clearly just from the initial sketch, and that in turn makes the values able to be pinned down a bit more easily. Links to this post. I'm a mom . . . who paints. Saturday, January 24, 2015. I received an impromptu lesson before I made these and I think it really shows. It was about the build up of paint to help pull objects forward, making them more 3D in form and showing the planes of each shape. But I've been making this happen in all of the previous grisaille paintings and have now started using a build up of paint to pull objects forward and really show their surfaces or planes. Here are the latest 5. Links to this post. In continu...

I'm a mom . . . who paints. Thursday, November 20, 2014. I've got the lace "sketched" out in paint. Just one problem - I had to use the teapot when my friends came over and now I can't get it back exactly in place. Oh well! I'll finish the lace at least. Links to this post.
