Richeson Small Works 2015 | sundwallart
https://sundwallart.wordpress.com/2015/05/06/richeson-small-works-2015
Seeing is forgetting the name of the thing you see. Richeson Small Works 2015. Oil on Linen, 12 x 12 inches. I was recently honored to win the ‘Best in Show’ award in Richeson’s 2015 Small Works competition. Every couple years I do a series of cat paintings, and this is from the most recent. Years ago I had a black cat named Murphy, who got that wide-eyed crazed look from her new toys and was the inspiration for this work. This entry was posted in Animal Art. May 6, 2015. M is for Maltese. But by far the...

Seeing is forgetting the name of the thing you see. M is for Maltese. Portrait of Misha) Oil on Linen, 18 x 22 inches. Early this year I received a call from a woman in central Illinois (my home state), who commissioned a portrait of her Maltese who died last year. She found my website by accident, and fortunately when she looked around she saw an earlier portrait I’d done of the same breed of dog. Maddie, my first Maltese portrait. This entry was posted in Animal Art. And tagged Canine Portraits. Thanks...

Seeing is forgetting the name of the thing you see. Oil on Linen, 30 x 24 inches, private collection. To be fair, I should mention that the girls had an entirely different response to the painting, which is the story I’m here to tell. 8217; and, vice-versa, ‘Hey, how come I got two and she got one? If she also had two? I mean, if we take the painting to be ‘real’? Not to make a big deal out of it, but isn’t this a painfully familiar scenario? Aren’t we always seeking what’s fair and square? Making Connections | sundwallart

Seeing is forgetting the name of the thing you see. Oil on Linen, 18 x 24 inches. This work recently won a nice award for oil painting at the Ridgewood Art Institute (New Jersey). A painting must stand on its own without the artist having to explain it, but how this one came into being is interesting to me, maybe you’ll find it interesting, too. I decided the title had to sound French in a nod to Degas. This entry was posted in Painting. May 9, 2015. Richeson Small Works 2015. On Equity →. Address never ...

Goodbye, Little Mew | Long Live Go
https://longlivego.wordpress.com/2015/06/04/goodbye-little-mew
Life, Parenting, Everything. June 4, 2015. Goodbye, Little Mew. My cat, Stash, died this morning in the middle of the daily bustle to get Hugo and Daddy out the door. She was 14. She lived with me through my young adulthood, divorce, remarriage and motherhood. She was a good mew through it all. I think she was happiest when she could roam throughout a house in search of sun puddles. Stash lived with me in six different places! My friend made this Egyptian cat sendoff, which is on sale here. Loss of a pet.

Life, Parenting, Everything. August 5, 2014. I’m told this tasty-looking bread is gluten free. My friend Joanne has started a cool new blog Call Me Gluten Free. The subject matter seems pretty clear. I don’t know much about gluten-free cooking or eating, but the food looks great and she’s an entertaining writer. If you are in the gluten avoidance set, please check it out! And everyone could probably benefit from this post, Cooking for Gluten Free Guests. Posted by Christie Silver. Enter your comment here.

Life, Parenting, Everything. August 2, 2015. Babies aren’t good at that. Meet Truck. Hugo made Truck all by himself at a special art class in school. He wouldn’t even let me put it in his backpack for the trip home. But Truck is obviously fragile. As I was driving home, I heard Hugo start to cry. Really cry. “No, Jack! Give it back to me! 8221; In a fit of open-heartedness, Hugo passed Truck over to Jack. They were both strapped into car seats. 8220;Oh, sweetie. Why did you give him Truck? I think that w...
Who is this 15 month old guy? | Long Live Go
https://longlivego.wordpress.com/2015/07/11/who-is-this-15-month-old-guy
Life, Parenting, Everything. July 11, 2015. Who is this 15 month old guy? Jack is 15 months old, and his personality has recently changed. A lot. From birth, I would describe Jack as easygoing, good-natured, mellow. Now along with his new toddler superpowers like climbing and speaking, he’s developing an attitude. Just the look he gets when he’s climbing something and he hears me shout “No! But he’s still my squish! Posted by Christie Silver. Goodbye, Little Mew. Babies aren’t good at that →. July 12, 20...

The Sundwall's Adventures
8220;May your adventures bring you closer together, even as they take you far away from home.”. Friday, April 19, 2013. Stuff that rocks about Germany. Rolladens. These things are brilliant, they are like blinds, except metal and they roll down on the outside of your windows and block everything out. I don't know why these aren't everywhere because they are fantastic. Except that they are illegal in America because apparently Americans are too dumb to not eat the big plastic egg inside.). Kate and Tanner are both returning for another round at Snoqualmie Middle School, with Kate in her third and final year (8th grade) before moving up to Mt. Si High next year. Tanner is comfortably settling in as a 7th grader and anticipating his reign on top next year. I LOVE the untied shoelace! Ah, Kal. Snubbin' for the camera, as usual. And hambone Tucker. Gotta love my Tuck. In mid-August...

The Creative Works and Ramblings of Author Susan Sundwall. Monday, January 9, 2017. Ch Ch Changes (thank you David Bowie). I love that old maxim, “the more things change, the more they stay the same.” As a much younger person it made no sense to me at all. But – you live a while – and you see the wisdom in those words. Changes don’t come in a one size fits all, but there’s an eventual sameness that creeps in that we can all relate to. Then there are the changes you’re really, really looking forward...
