Surviving Fourth Year: August 2009

http://www.survivingfourthyear.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

Monday, August 17, 2009. Fear Not. I am back! Where do I begin. Since my last entry I have completed my food animal rotation. Which honestly was one of my favorite rotations thus far. I learned a lot and got to do a ton! I dehorned a goat, castrated a pig, and a bunch of other things. One thing I did not enjoy about Food Animal was the FUNGUS I got on my face. Yes! It has since cleared up and it still grosses me out to think that I had a fungus on my face it WILL NOT be mentioned again.

Surviving Fourth Year: May 2009

http://www.survivingfourthyear.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html

Monday, May 25, 2009. I am writing this blog before I have to go back and take care of 1 of my 2 patients. I was the lucky one who gets to deal with the filly that has a flesh-eating bacteria in her incision line. AWESOME! I just hope I dont bring it home with me! Sunday, May 24, 2009. But any time anesthesia is involved there are always risks. It is just a really sucky way to end a fantastic rotation. Wednesday, May 20, 2009. Hope everyone is having a good week! Sunday, May 17, 2009. Isn't she so cute!

Surviving Fourth Year: FIRE!

http://www.survivingfourthyear.blogspot.com/2009/05/fire.html

Sunday, May 24, 2009. My last day on dentistry sucked too. We unfortunately lost a patient. I really can’t go into all of the specifics but we did nothing wrong, and would do nothing differently, the dog was tiny, old and had a lot of other problems. I hope this doesn’t scare people away from getting dentals done on their pets because the benefits strongly out weight the risks (Mom! But any time anesthesia is involved there are always risks. It is just a really sucky way to end a fantastic rotation.

Surviving Fourth Year: July 2009

http://www.survivingfourthyear.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html

Wednesday, July 8, 2009. Done with Small Animal Emergency. Where do I begin? Most of the cases we just stabilized and then transferred to other services in the hospital. We had a lot of HBC and therefore a lot of euthanasias. In case anyone wanted to keep track… the first 2 and a half days I euthanized every patient I had… I think all in all I had around 10. Now on to food animal medicine and surgery. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Done with Small Animal Emergency.

Just a way to keep in touch. Welcome Paige McCall Seidl- 4.14.2009 at 4:15pm. My classmate Jen is a mom! Derek and I had a chaotic Easter weekend. Sunday, May 31, 2009. In which Peggy uses utensils. We've been letting Peggy use a spoon and fork. It's a little messier at times when she chucks food behind her, but she enjoys being a big girl just like mommy and giving it a try. As you'll see in the video, she hasn't quite gotten the knack for getting food onto the spoon, but she's come up with a work-around that seems to work out for her. Monday, May 25, 2009. The Boyle Family: June 2009

http://seanandlou.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html

Saturday, June 20, 2009. In which we go to a strawberry farm and learn that Peggy's belly is bottomless. Peggy got to see a tractor, and for the first time, seemed to acknowledge it's presence, making the brrrrrr, brrrrrr sound of the engine. She held on to daddy pretty tight as we went down to the fields. She also tried to get into the action a little, but was disappointed to find that the white strawberries do not taste as good and that the stems are not as delicious as the fruit. So, I have cancer. But it's not gonna know what hit it. Wednesday, March 14, 2012. 26 weeks pregnant,. After three rounds of chemo. My daughter, Alice Virginia, turned one year old yesterday. This milestone, huge for any family, carried extra significance for mine. A year and a half ago, when I was 12 weeks pregnant with Alice, I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 32. But, we soon learned that I could treat my cancer aggressively while maintaining my pregnancy. But my treatment includes a yea...

You made it out. Now help end it. October 30, 2014. Shortly after beginning this project, I needed to personally take some time off from – everything. It’s been a little over a year now since the last post. This project is not dead. But my time is very constrained of late with obligations outside of my personal life. Surviving four kids!

Thursday, January 9, 2014. A brand new, sparkly year! Another year has passed. It flew by so quickly. I am beginning to realise, that from now on, most years will more then likely fly by very quickly. I don't have any 'babies' left. I have 4 children. No more toddlers either, I am not needed as much anymore. They are growing up. They are more independent. They are smarter, quicker, and are growing more and more curious about the world everyday. The last photo of my mum with my children. I am ready for you.

These little guys are coin purses made from pop tabs. I got the urge to try this after watching the following videos on youtube.
