Wednesday, September 9, 2009. I finished my fifth cycle of chemo this morning. I will be taking a few scans next week to determine exactly where I am in terms of disease in the liver, the brain, or anywhere else in the body. Last time we checked, the liver tumor had shrunk from 5 cm to 1 cm (a very good sign), so here's hoping that next week's scan shows that it has completely disappeared. You can see it every Saturday in Michigan Stadium, as students salute the defense by forming their hands into a claw and performing the same down-up motion that accompanied the chop. Naweed Sikora, a Daily Sports Editor at the time, was one of the founders of "The Claw." He loved Michigan, and he was one of those great Wolverine fans; the glass was always half-full. He lived his life the same way for 27 years before losing a two-and-a-half year fight with testicular cancer on Oct. 16, 2009.
