A Different Time: January 2013
http://www.jeffjordanblog.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Wednesday, January 30, 2013. Courtesy of photobucket.com. Last week I took Emma to the doctor, but this really isn't a story about her or the doctor or her sickness. But, I suppose it's really not a story anyway because it's the truth and it's about me. And mostly, it's the truth about me. It's a story that began many years ago. I had become quite proficient at leaning solely on me, on my understanding, on what I could do, on what I could accomplish. All wrapped up in a self-indulgent world of me-ology.

Wednesday, May 15, 2013. Maybe They Were Right About Elvis. I hit the best nine iron of my life about thirty years ago at the tender age of twelve. Courtesy of photobucket.com. And, I've never admitted this to anyone (except my wife) until now. But, it's the truth, and my pseudo disclaimer for the following observation:. I couldn't help but wonder what the response and American reaction would have been had a National Zoo worker snipped the spinal columns of three little, cute baby pandas? In all this, I ...

Em Português / In Portuguese. How can you mend a broken person? January 11, 2011. How can you mend a broken person? There is an old song that asks “How can you mend a broken heart? 8221;, talking about a romantic relationship gone bad. Based on the topic of brokenness I ask, how does God mend a broken person? Photo courtesy of iStockphoto/sb-borg. When something is broken inside a person (a hurt or trauma from the past) it keeps them from being whole. Sometimes, the person tries to patch things up with d...

A Different Time: June 2012
http://www.jeffjordanblog.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Monday, June 18, 2012. Courtesy of photobucket.com. Lisa stayed home with Thomas, who suffered from a stomach ailment this morning. I took the others to church. Mary and I headed to the sanctuary, while Luke walked the foster daughters to their class. A few minutes later, Luke stood beside our aisle with the youngest of them, Jennifer. She wanted to come sit with you," he said. Had I raised her from birth, I probably would have insisted she go back to class. The "final visit" letter. At once, she turned ...

Monday, January 27, 2014. It hits me most in church. Courtesy of photobucket.com. I don't know if it's regret, or bitterness, or fondness, or little bit of it all. I feel it most when I see people now I knew from so many years ago. There's just something about that age which seems to mark us forever- and a perspective none, except those who knew us then, will ever have. And so, I sit there in church and see the middle-aged faces of people I knew back when-those I worked with before they were married, tho...

Thursday, April 26, 2012. Courtesy of photobucket.com. The boys were playing with the little girls on the swing set as I finally arrived home from work. It was my first full day back since surgery five weeks earlier. Immediately Luke came in and wanted to throw the baseball, while Thomas asked for a quick ride to the bookstore. I told the elder to grab my glove and hobbled to the backyard. As I walked out, I assured Thomas we would make time for books later. I wiped the moisture from her cheeks and tickl...
