Adventures in Reading

This is a blog about all the books and technology that I have discovered in my daily travels. Saturday, May 7, 2011. My Top Ten Things That Every Teacher Should Know About Technology - Revisited. My “Top Ten Things Teachers Should Know About Technology” list did not change from the beginning of the course. However this course did let me have a better understanding of technology’s uses in the classroom to enhance learning. Don’t get stuck in a learning rut! Make an effort to try something new each year.

This is a blog about all the books and technology that I have discovered in my daily travels. Saturday, April 30, 2011. This past week looking at the OPAC’s seemed a lot like buying a new car. They all had their promotional material and some had more bells and whistles than others, but you really had to look at each feature to get an overall comparison. I chose to compare my school’s current system, Companion’s Alexandria, to Follett’s Destiny. For me this was a real life potential change. Next month the...

I started this week’s exploration into the world of Online Applications with Flickr. While I had heard of Flickr, I had never bothered to sign-up for it. As the Page Turns: May 2011

http://tuckerreadstoo.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

As the Page Turns. So many books, so little time. Monday, May 30, 2011. Amazing. Fantastic. Typical Libba Bray. Intelligent, creative, hilarious, and a constant sense of, Oh my god, she actually said that out loud. Miss Teen USA meets Lord of the Flies. Meets dystopia starring evil Corporation. America's obsession with appearance and celebrity grilled to perfection. Even the cover art is spot on. Sunday, May 22, 2011. A beautiful graphic novel. The story begins with a sorry sort who aspires to be a p...

As the Page Turns. So many books, so little time. Sunday, July 31, 2011. Poorly edited, full of typos and inconsistencies but somehow I couldn't put it down. Huh. Another take on witches, weres, etc. at a most un-Hogwart's like school. Wonderful. Told from the perspective of a middle school aged cancer survivor. Funny and interesting with the right amount of cancer info and pitch perfect teen voice. Watch out for the ending, though foreshadowed it still comes like a punch in the stomach. The Wee Free Men.

As the Page Turns. So many books, so little time. Saturday, November 12, 2011. Reading, Reading, Read. The title explains it all, I think. Levithan never disappoints. Me, anyway. Although the town in which this takes place seems somewhat (okay totally) unrealistically enlightened, the characters ring true. Love the cover art, too. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Complex and challenging, once you get hooked he switches voices! Zombies vs. Unicorns. Edited by Holly Black and Justine Larbaleister. Okay, who could resist such a title? As the Page Turns. So many books, so little time. Wednesday, August 3, 2011. Summer Reads, cont'd. By Gene Luen Yang. Another three story graphic novel from Yang, another home run. American Born Chinese. Was great, but this one draws you in even faster - a combination of storyline that takes off like a rocket and artwork that is essential and perfectly executed. Attacking more general themes of identity, angst, and the need to escape reality - what is real? Than in ABC. Fantastic. Along for the Ride.

Perfect british voice, though some trouble capturing the american one. A chilling look at what could easily be the future through the eyes of a 15 year old. Saturday, November 12, 2011. Apologies.

Adventures with Jesus

Reflections on my journey with the Lord. Thursday, January 29, 2015. Adventures in Falling in Love. So a year later, here I am again! This past year was a GREAT adventure and I cannot believe that I haven't blogged about it. I was just so busy with so many things that it kept slipping my mind! Basically, I am now a wonderfully married woman! And no, praise the Lord, I did NOT meet him on Christian Mingle. Yay! The Lord definitely wrote our story, which I'm going to tell you: :). He is such a God send.

Daily Surrender - Susan Sage

They don’t have anything better to do? Even in the body of Christ, we are so quick to jump to accusations and anger instead of compassion and mercy. I’m thankful for God’s mercy pouring over every sin I have committed and will commit. I’m ready for the hating to stop but it won’t until God. For me, when I feel overwhelmed by the turmoil and unrest in the world and right around me, there’s one answer. It’s not original. God said it; I just find it works image that! It may be difficult but it’s doable.
