Tuesday, January 29, 2013. Finally Got the Nerve. As an educator I am always encouraging students, workshop participants to risk. It is through mistakes we learn. When I was an ed tech teacher I had a sign in my lab. An expert is a person who has made the most mistakes in a very narrow field - Niels Bohr". Mistakes were celebrated as an opportunity to learn. Yet how many teachers risk and are willing to make mistakes. Our culture doesn't seem to celebrate those. So here it is. Links to this post. What do...

Tuesday, March 27, 2012. Kansas City Library: photo by Jonathan Moreau. Reposted from LEARN blog. There has been a lot written lately about curation in education, specifically digital curation. Here is a definition from Wikipedia. Digital curation is generally referred to the process of establishing and developing long term repositories of digital assets for current and future reference. Sunday, February 17, 2013. Week One Learning Creative Learning. In terms of Learning Creative Learning - I am not new to many of these ideas, but as I believe learning is a spiral, I am here to reflect more and to deepen my understanding. In Mitch Resnick's paper: All I Really Need to Know (About Creative Thinking) I Learned (By Studying How Children Learn) in Kindergarten, he talked about the spiral nature of learning - imagine, create, play, share, reflect, imagine - a recursive paradigm. Schools, part...

Wednesday, July 27, 2011. I will be adding my notes for the ISTE Conference - but I've been sidetracked with other things. In the meantime. You didn't get funded to go to a conference? This is not an excuse for missing PD opportunities. From the November Learning 2010 Conference. You can watch this year's keynotes live. Chris Lehmann's closing keynote. Or go to TED talks. Amy Learns to Apply Technology. Tuesday, June 30, 2009. 5: IF a Picture Paints 1,000 Words, Why Can't I Embed 1? Here are two activities that I think will work. 160;1 Learn the concept of "setting" by updating. A fairy tale to modern times,. 2 Learn to search for appropriate photos or create appropriate digital photos that illustrate their modern fairy tale, save in a picasa. And embed the modern fairy tale with illustrations into a class blog. . Old fairy tales to read. Cinderella at the Night Club.

Amy Learns to Apply Technology. Thursday, July 16, 2009. Week 7: Take 1, 003: The Eagle Has Landed. OK, here's one screencast that needs some revision, but. My Progress is s-l-0 -w today. I liked that Todd described these "mistakes" as "pieces of paper". However, the pressure is there to create something good and creative. This isn't it, but it is good enough for today! Learning to Apply Technology takes time, perseverance. Week 7: Screencast with Sound. Here is a very mediocre screencast. July 14, 2009.

Early Music Montreal: September 2005

http://earlymusicmontreal.blogspot.com/2005_09_01_archive.html

Friday, September 16, 2005. Travels with Bernhard Böhm. The Montreal Recorder Festival. Has begun. The first concert was billed as Wind instruments from the Stone Age to the Baroque. Böhm plays beautifully. His playing was expressive with very clear articulation. It was a delightful and informative evening. Posted by susanvg at 7:42 AM. Share my love of Early Music. Early Music Montreal: Autour de la Flûte - autour de Vivaldi

http://earlymusicmontreal.blogspot.com/2005/11/autour-de-la-flte-autour-de-vivaldi.html

Saturday, November 05, 2005. Autour de la Flûte - autour de Vivaldi. This is the second season for Autour de la Flûte. It is delightful to go to a concert with so many young musicians. I have seen a number of them play with some of the larger ensembles (Arion, SMAM) and here they got to shine. The future of early music in Montreal is assured. I am so impressed with Mika Putterman's playing. In the Vivaldi concerto for piccolo and orchestra in D major she played on a baroque piccolo. She creates a...An ed...

Saturday, November 05, 2005. Arion - Tra Roma e Napoli. The extracts from the oratorio Il Primo Omicidio were more interesting. It started with a beautiful solo violin part. The orchestra sounded great throughout. The concert could have used more variety in the selection of music. Posted by susanvg at 6:47 PM. Share my love of Early Music. Early Music Montreal: Les Voix humaines - Violation

http://earlymusicmontreal.blogspot.com/2005/10/les-voix-humaines-violation.html

Saturday, October 29, 2005. Les Voix humaines - Violation. The lights dimmed and a drone, soon joined by a simple melody, began the concert, transporting us back through the centuries to medieval Spain. Eight viols filled the hall with their rich, mellow sounds. It was lovely to hear such a large ensemble. A lively rendition of Ortiz's Ricercada Secunda changed the mood. The lights got brighter and the rhythms got more complex. I was very impressed with Nan Mackie's playing in the Adaskin Adagio and Alle...

Friday, August 7, 2015. A Day in Val David. I love pottery, so a visit to 1001 Pots. Is always a treat. I managed to resist most of the creations, though I did leave with one new mug.
