Onboard MicMac: Scary skies in Solomons today
http://onboardmicmac.blogspot.com/2015/06/scary-skies-in-solomons-today.html
Follow us on the water from land; no Dramamine needed! Thursday, June 18, 2015. Scary skies in Solomons today. We were safely tied up at a marina when the sky turned ominous. Wind picked up to 40 knots and then the rains came. Sky dissipated a bit. So glad we were in a marina. Woulda been scary anchored out. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Our Hunter 36 - -. Follow us on the water from land; no Dramamine needed! Sunday, August 17, 2014. Greenvale Creek too shallow. We had never ventured past Urbanna on the Rappahannock. So we sailed up to the mouth of Greenvale Creek. The Upper Deck restaurant appeared to be open but the number of warning stakes scared us away. Maybe 'tis best to drive here in the future. Took a long trip up the Western Branch of the Corrotoman instead to anchor for the night. Quite a lovely after-dinner sky. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Onboard MicMac: Oxford Maryland
http://onboardmicmac.blogspot.com/2015/06/oxford-maryland.html
Follow us on the water from land; no Dramamine needed! Wednesday, June 17, 2015. We motor sailed up the Choptank and Tred Avon rivers today to Oxford. But, as W. C. Fields would say, "it was closed." Seriously, the few shops are closed on Wednesdays. Captain Pete always times my shopping opportunities this way. Even the historic Robert Morris Inn pub was closed. This was our second visit to Oxford. Cute and very clean town. But VERY quiet. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Our Hunter 36 - -. He who goe...

Onboard MicMac: Where is Waldo?
http://onboardmicmac.blogspot.com/2014/07/where-is-waldo.html
Follow us on the water from land; no Dramamine needed! Saturday, July 19, 2014. On the Big Annemessex River on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, just north of Crisfield. After an 11 hour day of sailing and motor sailing. Once again, NOAA knows nothing about wind velocity. 5 knots my eye. More like 15-20 all day, with drops to 5 occasionally. So we are anchored far up a river I never heard of three hours ago. Nobody else either. We are all alone on a rather open anchorage. Who'd a thunk it? Our Hunter 36 - -.

Onboard MicMac: Oops, Honga River is not what we expected
http://onboardmicmac.blogspot.com/2014/07/oops-honga-river-is-not-what-we-expected.html
Follow us on the water from land; no Dramamine needed! Saturday, July 19, 2014. Oops, Honga River is not what we expected. First we had to dodge a minefield of crab pots as we approached the Honga. They were about every ten feet. So we turned around and are heading south, perhaps to Crisfield. But I learned a lot by reading a memoir of William Hooper along the way. So I can appreciate Honga's long history and its role in the oyster industry. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Our Hunter 36 - -. Through ...
