1 Letter of Intent. The 12 member cooperatives issued the letter of intent to Alliant Energy in February 2013. The definitive agreement was announced by Alliant Energy and Southern Minnesota Energy Cooperative on September 3, 2013. The Minnesota Public Utility Commission approved the acquisition June 2015 following more than a year of work by the 12 participating electric cooperatives and Alliant Energy to make certain the transaction was in the public interest. Form A SWCE staking technician will schedule an appointment to meet with the electrician, homeowner and/or builder on site to determine the electrical service requirements, the location of the electrical equipment and line extension if required.
