Same Knit Different Day. Mandie's knitting and stuff. Sunday, March 30, 2014. Swirl Hat Italian translation. On ravelry has graciously provided this translation of the Swirl Hat. Pattern into Italian, which now exists in EIGHT languages. Pretty cool. Thanks! 3 *2md, 1gett...

Same Knit Different Day: Monumental
http://sameknit.blogspot.com/2014/01/monumental.html
Same Knit Different Day. Mandie's knitting and stuff. Wednesday, January 01, 2014. I haven't blogged in so long because the next blog post was supposed to be about the marathon, and I really just didn't have the words. I'm still not sure I do but I have as many as I ever will so I just need to write about it. I would have said I could never run a marathon. That was 3 years ago. I am still deliriously proud of myself 2 months later. Somehow I managed to convince myself to try for a full marathon, even tho...

Same Knit Different Day: Pick up lines
http://sameknit.blogspot.com/2007/10/pick-up-lines.html
Same Knit Different Day. Mandie's knitting and stuff. Tuesday, October 09, 2007. I've had occasion of late to ponder knitting terminology evolution. And it has come up at knit night and elsewhere. Some people complain when a pattern says "pick up" because they pick it up and say "then what? So I picked up the first 3 books I saw on my shelf with basic knitting instructions. Reader's Digest Complete Guide to Needlework (another excellent reference book from a long time ago.). See, I told you. So in 19...

Same Knit Different Day: Yarn Over Short Rows
http://sameknit.blogspot.com/2007/04/yarn-over-short-rows.html
Same Knit Different Day. Mandie's knitting and stuff. Monday, April 23, 2007. Yarn Over Short Rows. A lot of people have been asking me about short rows lately, so I thought I'd post how I do them. This post will be picture intensive, but I wanted it to be really clear. Scroll about half way down). Nona also had a series of posts about several different short row techniques. Scroll most of the way down). My personal preference is the yarn over technique. It's very similar to Japanese short rows, but ...

Same Knit Different Day: No loose ends
http://sameknit.blogspot.com/2010/11/no-loose-ends.html
Same Knit Different Day. Mandie's knitting and stuff. Monday, November 08, 2010. I've been working on the surprise jacket and decided it was a good opportunity to show off a technique I've been meaning to blog about. I hear all the time people avoid doing stripes because they hate weaving in all the ends. But stripes don't have to mean more work at the end if you weave them in as you go. Now you want to duck under the old strand to pick the new yarn. Knit this stitch as you normally would. Now pull the o...

Same Knit Different Day: Elphaba
http://sameknit.blogspot.com/2014/04/elphaba.html
Same Knit Different Day. Mandie's knitting and stuff. Tuesday, April 01, 2014. Here's a sweater I finished a long time ago but never got around to blogging. The original pictures I had taken of it were terrible. The pattern is Elphaba. By Mary Annarella and it's very well written. Has short row and waist shaping, it's a simple but really well fitting sweater. Yarn is All Your Base South Pacific, and it only took 3 skeins, and not as long as you'd think to knit, either. Fri Jun 13, 07:08:00 AM. Knitting O...

Same Knit Different Day: Nameless
http://sameknit.blogspot.com/2013/10/nameless.html
Same Knit Different Day. Mandie's knitting and stuff. Wednesday, October 16, 2013. I finally have something new to share:. I finished these grey ones last year. I love them. I particularly love the way the cables work their way around the heel and gusset. It took quite a long time to size the pattern right. The purple ones are my daughter Caity's. She's got itty bitty wee calves, unlike my thick ones. So now they just need a name. Let me know. If I use it, I'll give you a free copy. Teresa in Music City.
