About | Sweet Pea-t

https://sweetpeat.wordpress.com/about

An Irish story about a non-Irish girl travelling Ireland. This is the story of a non-Irish girl (think more Swedish, Lithuanian, Ukrainian) trampsing through Ireland with eight other journalists from Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn. She always wanted to go to Ireland and now her dream is coming true. Travel with her as she experiences a different culture, people and environment, trying to soak up as much experience as possible. The end result will be a multi-media story about her travels.

#1 on my list | Sweet Pea-t

https://sweetpeat.wordpress.com/2010/07/24/1-on-my-list

An Irish story about a non-Irish girl travelling Ireland. 1 on my list. July 24, 2010 in Uncategorized. When I came to Ireland I made a mental list of all the things I wanted to do before I left. Besides the obvious: see ancient ruins, have my first drink, make new friends, get a kick butt grade on my project (still in the making) and take pictures that’ll last a lifetime, I had a #1 goal topping the lengthy list. Meet and become captivated by an Irishman. Or was I just kidding myself? The wake-up call G...

Galway Girl | Sweet Pea-t

https://sweetpeat.wordpress.com/2010/07/22/galway-girl

An Irish story about a non-Irish girl travelling Ireland. July 22, 2010 in Uncategorized. We arrived in Galway around 11am. We couldn’t check into our hotel until 3pm so we took that opportunity to get lunch and walk around the city a bit. The festival. Is in town so there were a lot of performers! Many were so theatrical and mysterious. Right up my alley. I’ll write a more in-depth blog post tomorrow when we do something besides blog and eat haha. A Portrait: My Ireland. Nick Ireland. Adventures.

The day I conquered Croagh Patrick | Sweet Pea-t

https://sweetpeat.wordpress.com/2010/07/25/the-day-i-conquered-croagh-patrick

An Irish story about a non-Irish girl travelling Ireland. The day I conquered Croagh Patrick. July 25, 2010 in Uncategorized. Today started like any other day with Greta snoozing our alarm three times and me silently wishing I went to bed earlier. The climb of Croagh Patrick is an ancient tradition dating back 1571 years! Thank God we didn’t go barefoot! The terrain was awful! We started like every hiker does: excited, ready to conquer this mountain, strong, confident and at the base of the mountain....

Ireland’s fine arts: From Dublin to Galway | Sweet Pea-t

https://sweetpeat.wordpress.com/2010/08/24/irelands-fine-arts

An Irish story about a non-Irish girl travelling Ireland. Ireland’s fine arts: From Dublin to Galway. August 24, 2010 in Uncategorized. This is why I, a never-ending-learning journalist, came to Ireland. I love the arts and want everyone else to experience the uplifting gift the arts have to offer. The trip began with me scrambling to get a story. I was searching for a story outside my realm, something different. The arts were that story. The end result. A Portrait: My Ireland. A Portrait: My Ireland. A place to share my stories…. What A Week…. The day is July 18, 2010, day seven of studying abroad in Ireland! We were almost to the edge of the gate at the Marino when Lauren, Greta, Amanda and Kevin walk back through the gates. While we were all trying to figure out the miscommunication, we see the 123 bus we needed to be on pass by; oh, and then Katie calls wondering where we are. So new plan, wait for Katie and catch the next 123 bus to our destination: Kilmainham Gaol. You ar...

Definitely A Galway Girl! | A Portrait: My Ireland

https://aeholmes.wordpress.com/2010/09/02/definitely-a-galway-girl

A Portrait: My Ireland. A place to share my stories…. Definitely A Galway Girl! The day is Thursday, July 22, 2010. We are going to Galway, finally! I have been looking forward to this for the entire trip, and with good reason. Galway. Is on the west coast of Ireland, and sits on the River Corrib. It is a vibrant place, yet ancient and historic. Galway city, with its seaside suburb of Salthill, is an important tourist centre and a gateway to the scenic areas of the county. Lovely women in Galway City!

It was quite amusing and something we all joked about continuously throughout the trip. Starting location for Dubliners' Walking Tour. A Portrait: My Ireland. A place to share my stories…. I’ll Have A Pint! Lets rewind to Monday, July 19, 2010: this is the last full day I spent in Dublin, Ireland with my CCSA group. The start of the day was pretty fabulous because we didn’t have anywhere to be until 2 pm and sleep makes me happy! However, I had to stop by the bank before we all met up at the Guinness Storehouse. We eventually made it to the Guinness Storehouse where Quigley was patiently waiting on us. Welcome to the Guinness Storehouse.

A Portrait: My Ireland. A place to share my stories…. The day is the 15. Of July and day four of the trip; funny how day four was the group’s first full day in Dublin, Ireland. Crew got the better end of the deal and I have absolutely no doubt that stories from this trip will be told by all of us for decades to come!
