I prefer bread shape because I end up with more surface area that's bready :). Thursday, May 1, 2014. Just because a recipe looks simple, doesn't mean it's actually easy. My daihuku turned out very. Ugly. Distorted? Definitely no where near pretty as you can see in my photos. The mochi was extremely sticky and difficult to flatten and wrap with. The taste? It was superb :).

Thursday, May 1, 2014. I found a simple recipe for ichigo daihuku that uses the solid mochi squares that people buy at the grocery store during New Years. The recipe only called for three ingredients for the outer mochi skin- mochi, sugar, and milk. For the filling, I added a piece of whole strawberry inside the red bean paste. Tuesday, January 28, 2014. I made these lemon cookies for my friends who're housing me during my trip up to SF. Why lemon cookies? Because my neighbors lemon tree provides us ample lemons! Their tree is so big that it branches out and into our yard. I thought lemons were summer fruits but then again it's been quite sunny here in California even though it's January :). Thursday, September 26, 2013. I wanted to give this Neiman Marcus cookie recipe. A try It has an interesting story to it, (the $250 cookie recipe story), so of course I wanted to taste this fancy shmancy, brand-name cookie. But when I took a look at the original recipe. From the Neiman Marcus website, it was not the same. So, I combined the interesting pa rts of the two recipes and tweaked things up a bit due to some lack of ingredients. I'm happy with the hint of coffee taste. 1 cup all-purpose flour.
