Over the Ord and Back. The Road goes ever on and on down from the door where it began." J.R.R. Tolkein. Tuesday, July 19, 2011. I never really got to know her very well before this year. Oh, we knew each other. I went on visits every year since 1999 when we moved back to America. Since we decided to buy the house in Minnesota, I've made several trips up and stayed with them. This time we worked together and it was so much fun! She can do anything! She mows, chases calves, drives tractors, paints the hous...

Over the Ord and Back: And before that, family time

Over the Ord and Back. The Road goes ever on and on down from the door where it began." J.R.R. Tolkein. Wednesday, August 31, 2011. And before that, family time. The August trip to Minnesota was more family reunion time, although I did get a couple of projects done. It began with Mom getting together with her two sisters. We all had fun going through the photos and letters. We had a monster bonfire one night! All those old papers, branches of trees that had blown down, boxes, junk. It was huge!

Over the Ord and Back: One Fine Weekend

Over the Ord and Back. The Road goes ever on and on down from the door where it began." J.R.R. Tolkein. Monday, October 17, 2011. Most of my posts lately are about my trips to the "homestead". This is another one. I keep Facebook updated, but I don't write at length about my doings on my blog. Those of you who only keep up with me here, I'm thinking of you! The weather was fantastic! Better than summer because there were very few, if any, bugs! A longer stay, perhaps. Except its actually a trombone.).

Over the Ord and Back. The Road goes ever on and on down from the door where it began." J.R.R. Tolkein. Wednesday, January 26, 2011. Her baby is playing the piano. This is what I do on Monday evenings. Helen comes over for a few hours while her mom and dad go to a class together. The whole family gets in to baby time! She loves this book, There's a Mouse in the House. A little paper mouse with a long yarn tail fits through little slits in each page. She goes straight for that book when she comes! Besides...

Over the Ord and Back. The Road goes ever on and on down from the door where it began." J.R.R. Tolkein. Wednesday, August 31, 2011. I'm going backwards in time in order to catch up on some of my summer's activities. The last blog was about Mom and her generation, but my generation also made it up. We had a lively three days with Celeste, Dave and Mindy and Jenny and five of her children. Gorgeous weather those days so we could spread out! And climbing the windmill! The photos won't post right side round!

Over the Ord and Back. The Road goes ever on and on down from the door where it began." J.R.R. Tolkein. Tuesday, June 14, 2011. Another trip to "Jenny's Place". We met up with one of my Grandmother's friends while we were there this time. He says he still thinks of the place as "Jenny's Place". It sounds nice. Not sure what we'll end up calling it. It's always "Gramma's House" to me, but Jenny's Place is good. Grass is green, green, green-And LONG! White birch in the green now. Nothing like spring green!

Over the Ord and Back. The Road goes ever on and on down from the door where it began." J.R.R. Tolkein. Wednesday, August 31, 2011. Flicka, Ricka and Dicka. My three Swedish chairs. They were old white chairs. One was partially striped, one I tried to strip, and one that I just gave up, sanded and painted. After all that stripping and sanding, I figured I'd just sand it. They sure do add some punch to a room. I also painted the front door red, but never took a photo. Oooo, it's lovely! Links to this post.

Over the Ord and Back. The Road goes ever on and on down from the door where it began." J.R.R. Tolkein. Wednesday, May 18, 2011. On Tuesday, May 17th, Andrew flew home from Norfolk, Virginia, where the day before, his ship, the USS Ponce, had just returned from a nearly nine month cruise to the Middle East. A few friends made it to the airport. Two other friends from church came too, but I forgot I had a camera then. Thanks, friends! It is nice to hear his man-voice around the house again! What a beautif...
