The View from My Broom: March 2015
http://theviewfrommybroom.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
The View from My Broom. Ruminations of a Crone. Wednesday, March 25, 2015. I was a young wife and stay-at-home-mom in the early 1970s. Like many women I collected Betty Crocker box tops from products I prepared and saved them to buy flatware. I still have come of those pieces, but 45 years of wear, garbage disposals, and moves means that there are a few key pieces left and our family went on to have a couple of other sets of flatware. I'd like to find a complete set of something that serves 8 and be done...

The View from My Broom: September 2013
http://theviewfrommybroom.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
The View from My Broom. Ruminations of a Crone. Tuesday, September 17, 2013. My husband Dave’s birthday is on or just after the first day of Fall. Perhaps that is why his mother began baking him plum sauce cake for a birthday cake. Certainly the cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves fill the house with an aroma that speaks Autumn’s name. I had planned to mail the cake there. Then Dave’s mother died on August 17. She’d been unwell for some time, but seemed to be coming back in inches. My four paled by comparison.

The View from My Broom: Creating Home
http://theviewfrommybroom.blogspot.com/2015/04/creating-home.html
The View from My Broom. Ruminations of a Crone. Friday, April 17, 2015. While picking out flooring yesterday, I received a text from our realtor/friend Ada Williams saying that our "new" house had closed. Daughter-in-law Ana and Grandson Gabriel had accompanied Dave and myself to the house yesterday morning to meet Ada and get the keys to our new family kingdom. If you aren't familiar with Lumber Liquidators they are a no frills flooring outlet. Enough flooring for our two houses (we all decided on t...

The View from My Broom. Ruminations of a Crone. Saturday, July 11, 2015. You Cannot Justify the Confederate Flag Flying on Public Property;. But maybe in your own yard. This year has been eye opening for an old Pacific NW white woman. I. Racism was alive, but I didn't realize it was doing so well. Police brutality, a church massacre, church burnings, and the revelation that the Confederate flag still flies on public property, not only in the South, but right here in Western Washington! Gone with the Wind.

http://theviewfrommybroom.blogspot.com/2015/06/remembering-battle-of-midway.html
The View from My Broom. Ruminations of a Crone. Friday, June 5, 2015. Remembering the Battle of Midway. From the moment the Japanese flew back to their carriers from Pearl Harbor, my father was no longer that fresh faced boy from the Missouri Ozarks. Seventy-three years ago the United States Navy dealt a strategic blow to the Japanese plan to dominate the South Pacific and my father, Conrad R. Frieze, was there. In 1967 Walter Lord published his book. Incredible Victory: the Battle of Midway. My father, ...
