Here's a fellow expat's news report about the diesel shortage in India. I believe it was filmed on the road going to our house. We usually see these long lines of buses in the morning waiting for their fuel. I guess fuel headaches are universal at this point! Click on the link below to see the report:. http://conversationswithdonna.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
This blog was created to keep us connected to family and friends during our stay in India. Sunday, November 30, 2008. We survived tropical cyclone Nisha! The storm stalled over Chennai for about 3 days and dumped lots of rain. We mopped up lots of water around windows because even though they were shut, they are not tightly sealed and the wind blew it straight in. I think I used every towel in this house to soak up and mop with and I'm still washing towels today! Make a Smilebox slideshow. Photo contests...

This blog was created to keep us connected to family and friends during our stay in India. Tuesday, June 2, 2009. Good Bye and Good Riddance! As we prepare to leave India after two years, I wanted to note the impressions I have formed while being here. Conversations with Donna: April 2009
http://conversationswithdonna.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
This blog was created to keep us connected to family and friends during our stay in India. Thursday, April 30, 2009. Strike up the bandh! No the title is not a typo. Here in India a "bandh" IS a strike! Those of us who have lived here very long are pretty unfazed by these fairly frequent events. We just know to stay home or at least not go into the city since either stores and offices will be closed or traffic will be total chaos! As I said, better to just stay home! Otherwise, you will hear me roar :).

This blog was created to keep us connected to family and friends during our stay in India. Friday, December 12, 2008. Furry critters, oh my! Need I say more? Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone. You probably have heard my "unpleasant" experiences with the Indian postal service, so most of you who are reading this will NOT be getting an actual card. I love sending and receiving cards but while we're in India, this will have to do. May your new year be blessed! Make a Smilebox scrapbook. My sister-...

This blog was created to keep us connected to family and friends during our stay in India. Tuesday, May 5, 2009. Several weeks ago we were invited to attend a fundraiser with the featured speaker being the world-famous Jane Goodall. I remember as a child seeing her documentaries and being fascinated that a woman could actually go live in the jungle among chimpanzees for months at a time! For more info check out her website:.
