Three species seen, low-flying in marshes or at pond margins. The eyes of males are not touching. So distinguishing the sexes is less straightforward. Females of Anasimyia lineata. Often have grey markings on the abdomen,. Rather than the orange colouring of the males. Seen flying mostly May-June, A. lineata. Face less extended than A. lineata. Hind femur yellow along dorsal line.
