Taikorea MX moves into top gear. February 2012 saw an exciting new direction with Paul and Katherine Whibley purchasing Taikorea Motorcycle Park. Even with three more years racing in the USA Paul still managed to organise an impressive event each year on his return to New Zealand. We are Taiko Ren: taiko for the Japanese style of drumming, combining dynamic movement and percussion; and ren, meaning a close-knit collaborative group. Taiko Ren, based in the San Francisco Bay Area, has been drumming collectively since 2000, when we came together with training and performance experience from San Francisco Taiko Dojo and other organizations. Sharing my love of Taiko. Monday, February 4, 2013. Very Cool Practice Drums. One of the major problems all taiko. Groups face is the cost of drums. They're beautiful, they're loud, to drum on them is a spiritual experience, but they're very expensive. Groups find various solutions to this problem. Some groups, the like the one I'm member of, make their own drums. Other groups raise the money to buy drums from one of the major taiko. Drum manufacturers like Asano Taiko. I thought t hey were pretty cool.
