Take the long way. It's about the journey, not the destination. Wednesday, August 12. And the ugly (trying to make a flooded portion passable). Visible for most of the drive was the pipeline. Lunch at the Hot Spot in Joy. The 24 people that live in Wiseman no longer have a post office. Just a view on a cool and cloudy day. On the way back with my new haul road paint job. As you might imagine, being in Denali's backcountry means no cell phone or Internet service so this post will try to recap the last few days. A few twists and turns while going up and down. Take the long way. It's about the journey, not the destination. Tuesday, June 30. Sky High and Down to Earth. Then it's off to the airport, where we meet our pilot - Gary Green has been flying in Alaska for 45 years, owns his own plane and has a lot. Off we go for a flight unlike any I've experienced (remember I'm a pilot) as we cruise over glaciers, alongside. Mountains (25 feet away from the planes wingtip), looking at wildlife, rivers, lakes, and vast snow and icefields. Spectacular! Monday, June 29.

Besides, it was a nice sunny day, too good to waste just puttering around the house. Covered 120 miles of backroads around Bardstown, a nice little afternoon drive. Tuesday, March 17.
