If you’ve taken statistics, you’re most likely familiar with the normal distribution. Similarly, I can shift the distribution to the right by increasing the mean:. Standard normal, then shifted to the right x - seq(-6,6,length=500) plot(x,dnorm(x,mean=0,sd=1),type = l,lty=1,lwd=3,col=purple,main=Normal Distribution,ylim=c(0,0.5),xlim=...

Gene Dan's Blog. Laquo; No. 82: Plotting Normal Distributions with R. No 83: Basic Simulation Using R. 13 March, 2013 by genedan. Today I’d like to demonstrate a few examples of simulation by using R’s built-in pseudorandom number generator. We’ll start by calling the function runif(n), which returns a vector of. Draws from the uniform distribution on the interval [0,1]. To see what I mean, runif(50) will return 50 random numbers between 0 and 1 (inclusive):. You can even supply your own PRNG, if you wish.

A Campaign for Common Sense. Thursday, November 6, 2008. It seems these days everyone has a blog. I have had a couple over the years, but recently, have really missed it. There is so much going on right now, things are changing so quickly, both worldwide and locally in my own personal life, and people are moving further and further away from having real conversations. Why is that? What happened to being able to be anything you want to be? What about sharing with others and not being selfish? View my comp...

Gene Dan's Blog. No 114: Visualizing the Blockchain. 24 December, 2014 5:29 PM. For those of you who don't know what Bitcoin. Is, it's a digital currency that's been gaining attention over the last few years, mostly due to its obscure user base, popularity on the black market (although most bitcoin transactions are legal), and its exchange rate volatility versus the U.S. dollar. Using this dataset I wrote a script to extract the transactions from the first 500 bitcoin users:. Duplicated(edges.sub),] ...

While it's mostly known for typesetting mathematical notation, it can also be used to render structural formulas via the chemfig. This basic structure serves as a template for each of the amino acids below. The amino and carboxyl groups, together with the asymetric carbon and lower hydrogen atom, form the amino acid's co...
