Tales of an MBA Nothing: July 2010

http://www.talesofanmbanothing.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

Tales of an MBA Nothing. Forget what the glossy admissions brochures tell you. This is a real MBA recruiting diary. Saturday, July 17, 2010. I Challenge. Myself. I learned all sorts of charming phrases such as BYL (verb: to blow your load) and woodshed (verb: to discipline someone) when I worked on the trading floor. I also witnessed firsthand the male affinity for any and all types of eating contests: Big Macs, hot sauce, raw onions, milk, etc. Disturbing yet fascinating. Example #1: Munchkin contest.

First, the good news: the seasons are changing. Thank God because the Chicago winter has truly worn out its welcome. (Wait no, it was never welcome to begin with.) A blog about nothing…. Pau Hana →. What do you do when things just don’t go your way? Try and study hard for an exam, put in the hours and really feel confident that you understand the material, and you get a 68 out of 100. Interestingly, my class got an average of 68 out of 100. We’re all pretty pissed off. I don’t know why we all did so poorly, but I can’t think it’s because we’re a bunch of morons. On July 29, 2010 in Uncategorized. Pau Hana →. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. A blog about nothing…. So I’ve gone back to school…. I majored in English in college. I thought I wanted to be a professor of creative writing, but I changed my mind. Somewhere in the midst of applying to several universities’ MFA programs, I panicked. Was I doing the right thing? I wasn’t sure. All I really knew was that I wanted to be a writer. But that doesn’t require any kind of college degree. So I’ve been in a dead-end job for a while… how to get out? On June 28, 2010 in School. Newer posts →.
