Time to Think: Happiness: A Choice?

http://livelearnhoperepeat.blogspot.com/2010/11/happiness-choice.html

Sunday, November 28, 2010. Coming out of college, it started off smoothly enough. I got a sweet teaching gig in the summer that made me realize how much I enjoyed teaching and then I headed off to Central America which was obviously an important experience to me. Mostly, I look at her and I wonder, Did she ever have a choice? Could she have avoided this road? I know, despite my deepest wishes, I'll never have an answer to those questions and I fear that it is possible to reach a point beyond saving.

Time to Think: April 2010

http://livelearnhoperepeat.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html

Friday, April 16, 2010. Grandma Bev, a Guatemalan, and Breaking my Routine. Around 6 o'clock, I found myself with my Grandma and her friend walking through cute downtown Metuchen and following them into an empty coffee shop. Behind the glass display case of parfaits and overpriced desserts stood a short Latino in his early to mid thirties. "Pedro! When there should've been a " te.". I sat down with my Grandma and her friend at our table. My Grandma Bev leaned in with that old, anxious look in her eye...

Monday, December 6, 2010. Here are a few new ones worth checking out:. Bart Weetjens: How I taught rats to sniff out land minds. The title kind of says it all. He also taught rats to detect tuberculosis in a matter of seconds using a basic reward system with the over-sized rodents. Marcel Dicke: Why not eat insects? Don't be grossed out! I would highly suggest that the next time you have 20 minutes to kill and you find yourself on Facebook or YouTube why not check out a Ted Talk instead?

Time to Think: Counting Days

http://livelearnhoperepeat.blogspot.com/2011/06/counting-days.html

Tuesday, June 7, 2011. Every day, I have a very big responsibility at my job: changing the company’s time-stamp. For the past ten months, I’ve literally watched day after day after day go by. Each time I turn that little plastic dial, I feel a small piece of me die on the inside. Mostly the part of my body that holds my hopes and dreams. It’s been getting to me, though. This job is not something an exceptional human being would find themselves in. Yet day after day, month after month of switching that ti...

Time to Think: October 2010

http://livelearnhoperepeat.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

Thursday, October 28, 2010. Focus Focus. Focus. In everything that you do, focus. If you're talking on the phone to a friend, focus. Make your mind and attention as present to that person as your voice is. If you are filing at work, focus. Take that menial, mundane task and do it right. If you are exercising, focus. Are you fatigued? Are you pushing yourself as hard as you can. Do you have proper form? Learn to recognize your body's signs and know its limitations. Only then can you improve. The remedy, I...

Time to Think: February 2010

http://livelearnhoperepeat.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Saturday, February 27, 2010. Broken Eggs and Goodbyes. I am officially homeward bound. This past Friday I said goodbye to La Prusia and I have begun my travels back to Guatemala and then back to Jersey, hopefully in time to catch one last snow storm. Originally, I was going to stay in La Prusia for an additional week. When I first showed up there I thought that I would have a hard time packing up and leaving that place, but my honeymoon phase was short lived. At first, I loved it. My one room house shrun...

Sunday, December 27, 2009. Just wanted to say that I´ll be traveling with my lady friend until January 2nd, so there will not be any new posts until the New Year. but I promise they´ll be really, really good after that. Thursday, December 24, 2009. Lago Atitlan Pt. 1. Lago Atitlan, a mountain lake located in the Western Highlands of Guatemala, is considered by some travelers to be among the most – if not the most – beautiful places in Central America. Time to Think: November 2009

http://livelearnhoperepeat.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

Monday, November 30, 2009. Quick Update from the Weekend. Spending Thanksgiving without my family was weird, but now I’ll appreciate being with them that much more in the future. I went out with Sergio for a couple beers that night. After a few pool matches on a table as flat as a putting green and a few rounds of microbrewed hefeweizen, deliciously potent IPA and Cabro (the other big Guatemalan beer… also owned by Gallo), drunken man talk in Spanish was inevitable. Machismo really is a big problem here.

Time to Think: Yes and...

http://livelearnhoperepeat.blogspot.com/2011/01/yes-and.html

Thursday, January 20, 2011. I don't want to be preachy (and if I ever am, I really do apologize. Tell me that I'm being preachy and I will swiftly kick myself in the face repeatedly until the preachiness is gone), but I don't believe there's anything you or I. You can fill in the rest. March 25, 2011 at 6:04 AM. I answered your comment on my blog, but I guess you didnt check it, so, after a couple of months (Im lazy as hell), I copy-paste it here:. Fucking hell,Tommy Boy, that was awesome!

Tales of a Wannabe Seamstress. Sunday, March 17, 2013. Vintage Pattern Additions, Other Vintage Goodies, and Button Organization. First, let's start with the patterns. The majority of these are from the 1970s and almost all children's patterns. I know, I know, I don't have kids. However, my hoarding gene doesn't allow me to pass by 25 cent patterns that I may have a use for a decade from now. In other thrifting news, I picked up a few other vintage goodies besides patterns. I showed Sean the pin. His immediate response: let's go. For about 10 minutes, we scooted down familiar roads, but then they began to fork and...
