2 wheels and no sense. My Motorcycle travel blog. Bye Bye Malawi. Hello Mozambique. We rattled, skidded and slid in the sand and finally made it to “Fat Monkeys” campsite, right on the beach. Sweeet! Alas, all good things come to an end. With a phone call to the petrol station, I was told fuel was once more available so we packed up and head off the next morning. The rain had been hard the night before and the road had turned into a muddy swamp. I was ok on my DRZ but James’ BMW with road tyres...You can...

2 wheels and no sense. My Motorcycle travel blog. Archive for the 'South America' Category. A few LONG days later we made it to the Colombian border. Venezuela gave us our final sour taste by demanding an “Exit fee”, AKA bribe before they would stamp our exit visas and let us leave the country. I dont want people to think I didnt enjoy Venezuela but it has the potential to be so much better if they would just chill out a little. What I learned about travelling is that you really cant plan anything and I&...

2 wheels and no sense. My Motorcycle travel blog. Luxor, Aswan and the ferry to Sudan. Well, it’s been a long time since my last post and so much has happened that I don’t know where to start. From my last post, we were all kicking back and enjoying the sun, sea and scuba in Hurghada, Egypt. The prices were rediculously expensive and required much bartering to get the beer down from 2 quid a bottle to 95p! My salesmen skill come in handy now and again! Not much for us in luxor so off we headed to Aswan a...

2 wheels and no sense. My Motorcycle travel blog. Christmas Eve….The border crossing from Tanzania to Malawi was straight forward as most of Africa is. We were in and out within an hour which was just as well in this new tropical heat. What was different was the tenacity of the money changers. We were literally mobbed by 30 guys all waving money in our faces. I was almost pulled off my bikes by these guys desperate to make a little commission. Alas, we were in Malawi and finally heading to the lake!

2 wheels and no sense. My Motorcycle travel blog. Apologies for the incredibly overdue final post to my blog. I guess I’ve been putting it off because it means my trip is over and there is nothing else to write about for a while. That and my website went all a bit wierd for a few months and I didn’t have the time to fix it…. As it’s such a small country, the following day we were again back into South Africa where we would head to the coast and check out the large Indian migrated city of Durban. I’...

2 wheels and no sense. My Motorcycle travel blog. Overland Dominator for sale. The Honda Dominator has a steel frame and a very solid, reliable Air-cooled 650 CC Carburettored Engine. It is a great foundation but it needs work to get it to standard. Here’s what I did. Engine fully serviced with an Arrow exhaust and K&N filter fitted. Airbox slightly modified to breath better and carb jetted to suit. It really runs BEAUTIFULLY now. Easy to start and never cuts out like most Dommies do. I custom made steel...

2 wheels and no sense. My Motorcycle travel blog. Off to South East Asia. Well For the last few years I’ve been what I class as static. I made a decision to knuckle down to some hard work and hold a steady job down for a couple of years to re-fill the travel coffers. Now those two years are over. My bank account is not looking as pathetic as usual so I’m off to South East Asia for a three month adventure. I fly into Bangkok next week. No plans as of yet. Exciting. Laquo; The next trip….
