Costumes by Lauren: First things first
http://costumesbylauren.blogspot.com/2011/09/first-things-first.html
A compendium of costumes for LARP, reenactment and fun. Wednesday, 21 September 2011. I've started this blog to detail my costume making, from the initial concept through research and design and finally creation. My other blog, Tea and Crumpets. Is all about my day to day ramblings and my love of vintage clothes and I thought that this would be a good place to ramble on about costumes. The outfits I make are generally for Live Action Roleplaying. 23 September 2011 at 01:57. I can not wait.

Rain On The Roof: New beginning...
http://rainonmyroof.blogspot.com/2010/12/new-beginning.html
Rain On The Roof. Adventures in Vintage Style and Dressmaking. Monday, 27 December 2010. I hope it's been a merry one. It's been a long time since I updated my blog. Oh isn't it always? Well, yes, but hopefully not for much longer! In the past few months my occasional hobby of vintage dressmaking has turned into a terrible, all consuming, helpless addiction (you know when you're selling most of your 'shop-bought' clothes on ebay, for money to buy fabric, to make homemade ones? Candles from the 1950s.

Rain On The Roof: Two evening projects
http://rainonmyroof.blogspot.com/2010/12/two-evening-pojects.html
Rain On The Roof. Adventures in Vintage Style and Dressmaking. Wednesday, 29 December 2010. The first was a tiny evening bag from Made By Rae's free 'Buttercup Bag' pattern:. I cannot recommend this pattern highly enough! Yellow acetate lining from a recent project. Once I'd made the basic shape I got really over-excited by all the possibilities for finishing touches but settled for a little button and ribbon bow trim. All in all a wonderful project that can be made from start to finish in evening. Aweso...

Rain On The Roof. Adventures in Vintage Style and Dressmaking. Saturday, 21 August 2010. KnickKnacks, Cocktails and Jazz. Gosh, I am sorry for the late-ness of my updating! My ultimate blog goal is 2 entries a week, with things to show of what I have been doing. I made a new dress this week, with SLEEVES, which is jolly exciting as I've never done that before, I shall save that for my second update though because for now there is catching up to do. All our lovely friends came looking super sharp and with...

Rain On The Roof: January 2010
http://rainonmyroof.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Rain On The Roof. Adventures in Vintage Style and Dressmaking. Saturday, 9 January 2010. Gosh, this is a bit overdue isn't it? There is not much to say about the months in between the last post and Christmas, life was a bit stressful in ways which are best not dwelled upon. By the time Christmas finally rolled around I was so in need of a break, and a lovely break it was, inspite of being quite ill for most of it. So I start 2010 refreshed and ready for a shiny, fresh new year! And it's fun being able to...

Rain On The Roof: October 2009
http://rainonmyroof.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Rain On The Roof. Adventures in Vintage Style and Dressmaking. Saturday, 24 October 2009. I had to make a copy of this photo when I was housesitting for my parents last weekend. It's my mum in the early 70s, and it made me do a massive grin since, well let's see, cat, sewing machine, fairisle jumper, floral fabric, yes it could be me! And she's just pretty gosh darn awesome in so many ways. Hurrah for mums! Think the patchwork is going to have to be an ongoing project since there are 324 patches to sew.

Rain On The Roof: Hullo Autumn
http://rainonmyroof.blogspot.com/2010/10/hullo-autumn.html
Rain On The Roof. Adventures in Vintage Style and Dressmaking. Sunday, 17 October 2010. Have I mentioned before how much I love Autumn? Seasonal decorations should not just be confined to Christmas, oh no. In other news, I finished my patchwork quilt/duvet hybrid! The top is quilted, but it also has a extra back with poppers to put a duvet in, so it can be a duvet cover, or go on its own on top of the bed, clever huh? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Living in Bristol, dreaming of Sweden. Awesome Inc&...

Rain On The Roof: August 2009
http://rainonmyroof.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Rain On The Roof. Adventures in Vintage Style and Dressmaking. Saturday, 15 August 2009. I haven't managed to write anything here for a long while, but this is because I have been busy doing things. Like a camping trip to Cornwall with George and my bro and sister-in-law, and also doing lots of projects and fun stuff. There's loads I want to write about and post pictures of. But first I have to *take* most of said pictures, so for now here are a couple. Also this week I finally finished my sundress!

Rain On The Roof: Come on in my kitchen
http://rainonmyroof.blogspot.com/2010/10/come-on-in-my-kitchen.html
Rain On The Roof. Adventures in Vintage Style and Dressmaking. Sunday, 10 October 2010. Come on in my kitchen. A slight deviation from my usual blog topics and a post on one of my most favourite of things, home! Or, more specifically, kitchens. Illustration by Ruby Star Rising. Anyways, a bit of a long post but I wanted to share some more pictures of kitchen inspiration. My mum and dad's cat in the kitchen window of their first home. Kitchen inspiration from Design Sponge. I really want this print.

Rain On The Roof: March 2010
http://rainonmyroof.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Rain On The Roof. Adventures in Vintage Style and Dressmaking. Friday, 26 March 2010. I am so glad to be home from work and beginning the weekend. Being a creature of habit, my winding down hour tends to follow the same routine, cup of tea, Radio 4, and usually a flop on the sofa (or if I'm feeling particularly upbeat, an hour of housework, weirdly I find this makes the rest of my evening more relaxing! Cheap roses from Tescos and a marmite crumpet. Simple pleasures, innit. Thursday, 25 March 2010. Well ...
