有缘千里来相会: Even Across Great Distances: November 2012
http://transprovincialism.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 27, 2012. Thanksgiving Day, I made cranberry sauce, stuffing, and pumpkin cheesecake bars. I also hand-squeezed 29 limes to make Honduran-style limeade. Not the best idea I ever had, but I was proud of myself nonetheless. Michael worked a full day. Each night ended with a get-together: Thursday with the Viera extension, Friday with the primos, and Saturday with an old friend. Sunday, we were exhausted. There was plenty more to do: laundry, dishes, schoolwork. We came home from c...The A...

有缘千里来相会: Even Across Great Distances: January 2014
http://transprovincialism.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 14, 2014. I listened to these two TED talks recently. And I thought I'd share them. Like the nerdy western girl I am, I associated the word "ubuntu" with linux or something, but it turns out the word has a much richer heritage than I had known. Here's the first, delivered just after the passing of Nelson Mandela, by Boyd Varty. And here is the second, a much older TED talk that I stumbled upon today, by Chris Abani. 8220;Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law? I must remember...

http://transprovincialism.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 20, 2014. Every day of the last eight years, I have been, slowly and painstakingly, learning to fear less and love more. So many days, I find myself clamouring the way the weaker disciples did, "This is a hard teaching, who can accept it? Thank God for Grace. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Thursday, February 7, 2013. Courtney Martin's TED Talk. Article in Slate recently and my thoughts drifted back to Courtney Martin, whose TED Talk. I've listened to four or five times since last September. See, when I read that Beyonce says. I told a friend recently, "I didn't marry Michael in order to keep his house and raise his children" - though I would gladly do so-. Here are some of my favorite moments from her TED Talk (I do hope you'll listen to it! This isn't to say we give up our wildest, bigges...

有缘千里来相会: Even Across Great Distances: Paulo Freire
http://transprovincialism.blogspot.com/2014/12/paolo-freire.html
Tuesday, October 7, 2014. For a long time now, I've seen folks quote Freire though I never knew exactly who he was or why he was so famous. I'm not sure why, by in my mind I think I had melded him with Pablo Neruda: South American, wise, quotable, from a time before I was born? Here's what I wrote:. Lownd, n.d.). Lownd, n.d.). Monday, December 8, 2014. Again, we were asked to profile a figure in adult education history, and this time I chose Jack Mezirow. Like with Freire, I felt he was someone I was supposed to already. 8220;Class of 2003: Jack Mezirow,” 2003). Friday, October 10, 2014. The individual or the society? Our professor asked us to pose ourselves a question. And then to write an annotation of an article that might begin to help us answer the question. I used a question that I read in our textbook:. 8220;Should we be responding to the individual learner or to the issues and concerns of society? Or do we somehow try to do both? 8221; (Merriam and Brockett, 2007, p.89-90). What is good and what is right and what is ethical? Tuesday, October 7, 2014.
