Pete in Namibia: August 2006

http://peteinnamibia.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html

Sunday, August 13, 2006. Sinead in the village. Doesn't she look great? Some of the dances were really amazing, full of crazy jumping and hip movements. Sinead and I tried to do a few of them after we went home- she succeeded much better than I did. A few of Sinead's student's asked me to help them with chemistry- I don't know much chemistry, but I think I helped them out a little bit. Posted by Pete @ 5:15 AM. Sunday, August 06, 2006. Pete in Namibia: January 2006

http://peteinnamibia.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html

Saturday, January 28, 2006. More scenes from Oluvango. So here are some more photos- I've been self-conscious about taking pictures while I'm working, so no photos of my students yet, but I'm sure I'll have some sooner or later. My outhouse- which really isn't so bad, though there is a huge resident population of mosquitos, which don't really bite me, but are still very annoying. At one point I also had a lizard and some spiders living there. Posted by Pete @ 12:45 AM. Friday, January 27, 2006. Oh yes, a...

Its been a week just like any other here in Oluvango, but two events have made it a little more exciting. Posted by Pete @ 1:24 AM. Monday, July 03, 2006. The Zebra Mountains (notice the stripes). A Himba woman and her baby (it cost N$13,00 to take this photo, which is actually relatively cheap). Sinead in the morning sun.

Pete in Namibia: December 2005

http://peteinnamibia.blogspot.com/2005_12_01_archive.html

Saturday, December 31, 2005. I did have this picture, taken from the plane from Johannesburg to Windhoek (by Sinead) available. So that is what Namibia looks like from above- its about as dry and empty as it looks, though we have had a lot of thunderstorms lately. Hopefully I'll have some pictures from the ground on here soon. Posted by Pete @ 4:23 AM. First few days in Windhoek. Posted by Pete @ 3:57 AM. Wednesday, December 21, 2005. 6 days and counting. Sunday, March 26, 2006. Posted by Pete @ 1:26 AM. Thursday, March 23, 2006. I'm pretty sure I am as tall as their legs- I wanted to find out for sure but Sinead wouldn't let me get out of the car. Posted by Pete @ 11:52 PM. Wednesday, March 22, 2006. They all just blend together! A gemsbok, which I think might be my favorite antelope. If you look carefully you can see a rhino in this picture. It was very ornery and tried to charge our little car. I'm sure it would have won if it did. A meme (Oshiwambo fo...

Pete in Namibia: September 2006

http://peteinnamibia.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html

Saturday, September 30, 2006. Sinead's dad and sister came out for a lightning visit (5 days). We took them to Etosha which was lovely, and then they came and visited classes at both of our schools. It was great to see them and made both of us homesick. Here is one of our prime sitings at Etosha, an elephant at sunset. Giraffes at a water hole- we saw many more animals hanging around like this than we did earlier in the year. A pretty sight- this guy needs a beard trim more than I do. Epic Journey Part 1.

Teaching and Living in Kuwait

Teaching and Living in Kuwait. Saturday, March 6, 2010. Fast Times in. the Land of Friendship? I was listening to podcast on NPR today talking about memory and time, and why time seems to move faster as we grow older. The fact is, no one knows why, but they did propose 3 different theories. One that seemed relevant to me was the idea of memory building and the exposure to new things. When we're young we are processing so many new things that it seems. Where I'm from we have indoor recess because of this ...
