A 40-Something Teacher: Houston, We have a Problem
http://vwwiegand.blogspot.com/2015/03/huston-we-have-problem.html
Sunday, March 8, 2015. Houston, We have a Problem. I really didn't start out this way, but I have come to realize: I have a problem. I am becoming addicted to Twitter.but only on the weekends. First thing on Saturday and Sunday mornings, I catch up on my Twitter. If I am house cleaning (a usual Saturday chore) I take a break to catch up on Twitter. Yesterday, my husband and I were shopping in the mall. He went to a gadget store. I went and sat down and caught up on my Twitter. I reply to Tweets. I would ...

A 40-Something Teacher: September 2014
http://vwwiegand.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, September 21, 2014. In my own time. My husband says I have to blog before I do any school work because I have not done so. Here goes. Yesterday, I was browsing through my Twitter feeds and there was a post "Retweet if you think the Browns will beat the Ravens and be 2-1." I retweeted. Twenty minutes later, my husband, while browsing at his Twitter feeds questioned, "So, you think the Browns will win? I responded "Yes" and after some thought, I stated, "I always believe they will win! I know the I...

A 40-Something Teacher: May 2015

Sunday, May 17, 2015. I think I might be a revolutionary. This whole internship thing really seems to be the way to go. If we want our students to be college and career ready, why do we wait so long to groom their talents and interests? There is no better experience than the experience. I read a Twitter post today " You never want to get on a plane where the pilot learned to fly from worksheets. When I look back at where I started and where I am now? I am the queen of change your major. I am lucky to hav...

A 40-Something Teacher: July 2014
http://vwwiegand.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Sunday, July 27, 2014. So some highlights of the evening:. My husband and I were a trivia question. The main planner of the reunion, one of my Barnabas peers, kind of takes credit for us getting together…if she had never planned the reunion, we would have never met ( I think that I show she sees it) so she is very happy about us being together and made us a trivia question. 8221; He replied “Yes.” She practically ran away. I told him “You've still got it baby! The faces may change…. Posted by lisa m.

A 40-Something Teacher: March 2014

Wednesday, March 26, 2014. I find it ironic that there is a belief that standardized testing will improve student learning while there is a supposed issue that businesses cannot find "qualified" employees. Haven't we been doing standardized testing for at least the last 20 years? The employment pool would come from these students.seems to me that the standardized testing may have had the opposite effect? Posted by lisa m. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). My Humble But Accurate Opinion: June 2015
http://nocturnecsh.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
My Humble But Accurate Opinion. Monday, June 29, 2015. If I Could Tell You I Love You. If my heart could sing,. What would be the song? Would it whisper like the flutter. Of a nightingale’s wing;. Or would it roar like a lion,. Both sung with heart enthralled. If I could tell you a story,. What would be the tale? Adventurous and bold,. Of brave deeds and chivalry? Or a romance which tells. Of sweet gentle caress? Both told with damp brow. If I could write you a poem,. What would be the prose? The attempt...

A 40-Something Teacher: November 2014
http://vwwiegand.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 30, 2014. I am not a natural smiler. My father often said I bare the weight of the world on my face. It's heavy. My husband wishes I would smile more often. I have to practice smiling. I know it sounds strange but it is who I am. Needless to say, I got the job because my friend explained it away as nerves. And from then on, I have had to practice smiling. I have received some random hello's too. I admire people who are that self assured to randomly greet strangers. Posted by lisa m.

Friday, April 27, 2012. From Tools to Toys. By John T. Spencer. Or in this case, Tom Johnson. An excerpt from Pencil Me In. On the flip side, our games teach the best of American values. Hide and Go Seek helps teach autonomy and creativity. Simon Says teaches listening skills and proves to kids that language can be powerful. Dodge Ball helps with teamwork and allows kids to see the value of throwing things at people for sheer enjoyment. When the game ends, students debrief the information in their plogs&...

A 40-Something Teacher: August 2015
http://vwwiegand.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Sunday, August 16, 2015. Friday was my first day back to school. Needless to say, the Twitterverse is all a buzz with back to school stuff. Some of it for the classroom. Some of it teachers lamenting the end of summer. Some of it anxiety about the return to school. A buzz I tell ya.A buzz! Sounds like my husband speaking). People talk about Twitter being a good professional development (PD) tool. So here is what Twitter has given me:. I follow a number of educators. Academic and athletic victories. The s...
