Teaching at the edge of chaos

Teaching at the edge of chaos. December 31, 2014. My best bits from 2014. 1 Becoming a father. My darling daughter Erin joined the world in May. The last 7 and a bit months have been an amazing adventure, she’s brought a new perspective to my world and made me less tolerant of the frustrations I’ve felt for some time and I’ve acted accordingly. She and my wife Ros continue to be the driving force for everything I do. 2 The GCSE results for 2014. 4 Seeing protégés flourish. So what about 2015? I had some ...

Teaching at the edge of chaos. The Art of Leading a Department: Know Your Students. Rebloggable: 12th December 2014 →. Thinking Aloud: There’s Nothing Like Common Sense. December 11, 2014. One person’s craziness is another person’s reality. Bip, Bop, Bip, Bop…. All that’s happening at the moment – be it a College of Teaching, Mr Wilshaw’s constant ‘stick deployment’, the Workload review, the recruitment crisis – they’re all symptoms of a lack of trust in teachers. What amazes me is that. I say finally, b...

Teaching In Cambodia

Hello again. After my stressed out post last week I thought I'd share just how much progress has actually been made in my classroom. Yes, progress has definitely been made. The main area of the room from the door. The other side of the room from the door. The blue table in this picture will eventually go out into the hallway. Where the girls will put their bags on top, and the boys will put theirs underneath. Another of tomorrow's jobs is getting that space sorted out and everything put away tidily.

Learning and Teaching English

Learning and Teaching English. Saturday, April 18, 2015. Pascha and Bright Monday. Christos Anesti: Christ is Risen. For Eastern Orthodox, April 12th was Pascha (Easter) and this was the first of many years when I did not eat lamb, tsoureki (Greek Easter bread), and crack red eggs! How I missed the lamb prepared by Jake of Jake and Telly's Taverna. In Colorado Springs, which he does especially for Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church. On Pascha morning. Yes, this is a shameless plug for both! Each Sun...

So here it is, "The Dash of Thursday, 21st of March 2013.". Dags att gå upp. Istället för kaffe på det icke-existe...

Teaching In China - What you should know! Welcome

Welcome to Teaching in China.net. My son, Darren Russell, left to teach in China on December lst, 2004. He loved the country and its people and wanted to make a difference in this world. Darren and I developed many friendships in China. Out of dedication to his students he endured an "English Sweatshop" situation. The entire contract he was promised on the internet, turned out to be a complete fraud. TeachingInChina.net strictly maintains your privacy.

Asian Invasion

Saturday, June 20, 2009. Last night I attempted to stay up until 6am to keep Jono Berry company, as it was his last night in China and he would be leaving for the airport at…you guessed it…6am. We ate dinner at Dong Bei Ren (they hadn’t run out of the mushroom dish! No, you’re kidding right? Check it out (also search it on youtube.com. 8230;I can’t add a link cuz China has deemed youtube.com. Worthy of censorship…even proxies won’t work with it):. Friday, June 12, 2009. Teaching In Chongqing

Encounters, Lessons, Insights, and Comments. Tuesday, April 30, 2013. How many does it take to? How many men does it take to install awnings around. I'll let this photo essay help you solve the riddle. The reason why I woke up to the sound of screeching metal by my wall. By the way, this worker originally tied his harness to my bathroom sink. Keep in mind, my apartment is on the 5th floor. Ready for the answer? And there you have it, folks. There's never a dull day in China. :). Thursday, March 7, 2013.
